( Clary is, regrettably, not anywhere near Caer Scima. Or either of the courts. She's out traveling with Gale and a couple of his other friends. But she sees the video over the network of lockets and her face floods with relief and she, quite frankly, flips the fuck out. )

[He grabs up his locket again, smiling in relief at her.]

Whoa, Clary. This is... whoa. I'm so glad to see you, though! Come here so I can give you a hug!

( She grins right back. She's so glad to see him she could scream, really. )

I'm glad to see you, too. You're in one piece, right? ( Oh. About that. ) -- Uh. Depends on where you are.

Yeah! Yeah, pretty much. Just a minor incident at the feast, but I'm fine.

Huh? You're not at the Unseelie castle?

Not right now, no. I'm -- with a friend. Traveling. I'm away. Weeks worth of travel on horseback.

[He squints suspiciously, still crushing on her at this canon point.] A "friend?"

[He even does airquotes with his fingers.] Who is he, how'd he sweep you off your feet, and what would it take to convince you that I'm way cooler?

Woah - ( Clary holds up her hands like she's being interrogated. ) Simon! Slow down! ( Though she can't lie, sometimes Gale makes her stomach flip. But her mind is always on Jace. And her heart is always with Jace. Even if he's not here. ) His name is Gale, he didn't sweep me off my feet, he's actually kind of annoying sometimes, and you're my best friend. Of course you're cooler. Since when were you on a possessive tear again?

Oh. [He scratches his head, looking sheepish.] Well, I figured... since you and Jace are... you know.

But, uh... yeah, I'm glad I'm cooler.

[This is awkward. Why'd he open his big mouth?]

Since we're ... what, Simon? ( Clary is starting to feel a sense of panic well up inside of her because what is Simon even talking about right now? Then she remembers something she heard someone mention about time being circular, and not everyone remembers the same as their friends might about their lives at home, and she wonders... )

You're acting kind of weird. When's the last time you fed?

[He winces a little bit, because he knows it's awkward.] ...Siblings?

[Wait what that's a weird thing to ask.]

You mean ate? I had lunch a little while ago, some kind of toasted vegetable thing.

You - ... ( WELL CRAP. Clary's just going to look. Perpetually more confused. ) We're not... Siblings, Simon. Valentine was lying. Don't you remember?

( ... UH. ) -- Ate. Food? Human food?

[HE'S SO CONFUSED.]
