[ when he looks away, the force of his gaze turned elsewhere, she isn't sure if she feels relieved or angry. a foot taps in agitation, perhaps impatience; Nabooru is brave, and sometimes rash, but she is no fool. she knows better than to attack him herself. but still the temptation strings tight in lean muscle - sitting easy in his company seems disrespectful to all she fought for.

but she allows a scoff, the sound falling hard from her mouth. ]

If any would be capable, it would be the Gerudo, [ once, she'd have said our people. Ganondorf is no longer afforded the honour. ] But it would have been a damn sight warmer, and with far less aimless wandering.

[He welcomes her to strike. There was once a time when she surpassed him at so many things. Perhaps he might never have surpassed her in speed, but time and dedication had allowed him to surpass her and everyone else in so many ways. He had even surpassed the witches in skill. There was still a boy inside who would welcome the chance to prove to her how far he'd come.]

Of that I have no doubt. [She may not bestow him that honor, but he still has his Gerudo pride. It defines him as much as it does her.] What is the aim of your wandering? Do you seek to shelter in the so-called neutrality of this place?

[ she stares at his back for a moment, then kicks her chair aside as she rises to her feet, one hand perched on a hip to saunter over to him. her line of sight tracks his. ]

You know me better, even now. [ it's irritating to admit, in many ways. ] This place is vast and strange. I will learn it, if they mean to keep me here.

You would do better to fight. [He at long last turns to her, his golden eyes fixed on hers. Behind his usual veneer of greed and power lust, there's a nostalgia to be found. He spent centuries without his kind and returned to a world where they were absent. Nabooru is that last remnant of his people. The last he might ever have.] We once fought side by side, Nabooru. Here, we have opportunity to do so again. It should be you commanding at my side.

[Once he would have been unable to forgive her treachery. But he'd had such a very, very long time to let some grudges die in favor of others strengthening.]

[ and she stares at him with something like disbelief and scorn and wonder painting her features. while she might be marvelling at his gall to ask her, a greater part of her is struck by the fact that he is asking. she'd laugh, but it doesn't manage to be funny. at another time, when she was better used to his presence and the changes time have laid in him, she might scoff at him, respond with a taunt - right now, she is simply caught too off-guard to toss up bravado.

livid and uncertain, she speaks terse but firm. ]

And what is it you're fighting for here, great king?

[He is satisfied to know he has her attention. He knows she will not join him willingly. With her in his grasp now, it would not be so hard to make her serve him again. There had been plans for just that before everything had gone so wrong. But he had no desire to do so. She'd earned her place as second in command for many reasons, but she'd kept it for so long for reasons more than just ability.

He looked away and though his features were older than they'd ever been, there was traces of the boyish ambition that had once made him exceptional and eventually led to his downfall.]

The conflict between the Seelie and the Unseelie is a petty and endless conflict. All that matters is that one side must win. Once the conflict has ended, the way home shall be opened to us. We will return wiser, stronger, and empowered to rectify what has went wrong. This War of the Shards is inevitable, Nabooru. You should choose the winning side now, before it is too late.

[ though pragmatic, Nabooru does not have the scope of time and distance to dull the spike of recent events. anger, and that deeper sense of hurt, fan her pridefulness to white hot flame; Ganondorf could tell her the desert sky was blue and she might argue just for the sake of it.

she might be able to pick his argument apart, but there's a crude and callous kind of sense in what he says that she deigns to ignore. lip curling into a sneer, she folds her arms, looking at him evenly. ]

Which side is that? Unseelie? Or your own?

Both.

[It was no lie. For now, he gave his allegiance to the Unseelie for so long as it benefited him. But should opportunity ever allow him to surpass his new masters, he would gladly do so and usurp their lands. Yet he could sense the defiance in her. It made her strong. It also made her foolish.]

[ setting aside the juvenile urge to make a face at him, at least for the time being, her frown deepens. the answer is wholly unsurprising, really, and she hates him for it, for confirming suspicions, for always being what she fears - hates. ]

Lucky them.

[He is nonchalant at the thought she likely picked up on his intent towards treason. He had betrayed the King of Hyrule. To betray this new king and queen was of little importance. Rather, he seems to study her for a few moments, as if trying to reconcile what he sees against his memories.]

Think well on your allegiances, Nabooru. The Seelie are not what they seem.
