[ it's a surprise to see her in kind, so he's not put off by her own surprise -- although a few stray thoughts would have him concerned if he cared enough to peer a bit closer. he's certainly young, perhaps even younger than her, even with how little she ages. he holds her in the hug for a moment, and glances back down at her. ]
