I just arrived. I was dragged quite suddenly from our little conversation, and brought to this…other world.
[ His gaze flicks briefly away from her, and his expression highlights his distaste for all he sees. Is this what a modern world would look like, if left to its own devices? Filled to the brim with machines filtering out coffee, and folding boxes that people type into?
His people, the Grisha, call ordinary humans the Otkazats'ya. It translates as 'the abandoned', because the power of the Grisha does not belong to them. Their lives are bereft of it, of ever knowing anything like it. This entire world is abandoned, as far as he's concerned - trapped between human technology, and the weak, almost playful magic of these faeries. To think, that is what passes for power here. Pathetic. ]
But have no fear. I will return us, Alina, to the place we both belong. Is the tracker here? Or any of your other…friends, shall we call them, for lack of a better word.

She'd rather not take the risk. She didn't know how anything here might affect anything at home. Not fully. It was easier just to play along with him while she could. ]
No. I'm alone.
Or I was. Still am, maybe.
You're not in the Seelie Court are you? I didn't know you were here until just now. [ And the closer they got, the easier it was to feel him. Which meant if they were in the same court she would have sensed him a long time ago. ]
We're enemies still. [ She watched him carefully as he circled her. ]

Enemies. [ He says the word like it's distasteful to him. ] When will you learn, Alina? I am not, nor have I ever been, your enemy. You and I belong together. You know that. You feel it as much as I do. Like calls to like, and you have always called to me.
[ He knows it's true. He knows that it's true for all Grisha, to an extent. He's a living amplifier. His touch makes their powers stronger, which feeds their strength and their focus.
But with Alina, it's more true than most. Their powers are two sides of one coin; he, the summoner of darkness, and she, the bringer of light. They are bound by her collar, and bound too by the scar his nichevo'ya had left on her shoulder. He's always been able to find a way to deepen their bond.
His mistake had been in thinking all that ever did was bind her to him. He'd only realised after the fact that it also bound him to her. That had been unexpected, and worrisome. ]
The Unseelie Court is where they brought me. That makes so little difference. The only Court I care about is the one we left behind. This world is nothing to me.
It's already lost.
