01. prince charming (david nolan) | once upon a time
the spell went wrong. he needs to find snow, needs to find bae, regina, anyone else he'd been standing next to back in storybrooke mere moments before. david plays along with the party for roughly ten minutes (not particularly convincingly, and only to look for a familiar face), then gives up on it entirely and slips out into the quieter corridors.
well, quiet-ish. the sounds of the mingling nearby linger for ages before finally dying off as he turns a corner, then stops in his tracks. the lighting here's dim, but there's just enough to make out a figure farther down the hall. a hand instinctively goes to his belt— no sword, as he's already well aware— but that doesn't stop him from sounding entirely in command when he calls out. ]
Who's there?
no subject
He stares at David, appraising him with the cold eyes of a machine used to making decision through logic rather than emotion. No weapons, at least none that he can see. Good build, might try to use physical force. Overall threat analysis: minimal.]
I am not your enemy. [He says in a broad Austrian accent, trying his best to sound non-threatening. It doesn't really work.]
wow minimal threat how rude
the fact that the guy's bleeding profusely and appears to be falling apart, that's distracting. the metal and the red eye is probably tied. there's a notable pause while david stares right back, tries to gauge the appropriate response. ]
You're hurt. [ and also metal. but he's seen people turn into wood and various animals, so who's he to judge. there's a trace of real concern in the observation, though it's given weight by a heavy dose of wariness. ]
Rude, yet honest. >:}
I am in need of repairs.
[He'd found someone earlier to help him temporarily fix his arm, but the rest of him looks like he's been put through the wringer and back again. He's not exactly bothered by it, but it feels cumbersome, a condition he's unused to being it.]
:')
Repairs aren't really my specialty, unfortunately. [ he's not totally useless, but there's no point in pretending he's got any idea where to start with something like this. still— ] Is there anything I can do to help?
no subject
There is something blocking the joint. It will not move correctly. [He would take care of the shrapnel piece himself, but at present, he's only got one arm, and the fingers on it are too big to properly fit inside the small area. He was built for fighting, not for being able to repair himself. Most Terminators merely keep going until they are forced into a shutdown.]
so rusty; ignore all my flashback icons sucker
[It's a shocked exclamation, one that ends almost breathless in her disbelief. She'd- She'd looked, was the thing. For anyone she knew in the crowd, for Emma, Henry, Charming- the dwarves. She'd only seen others as lost and confused as her, and some who were all to eagerly biting into the food on the long tables. Her warnings against doing so had fallen on deaf ears, and she'd turned her tactics.
She could help everyone a lot better if she could find them all a way to get home. Something went wrong with the spell, or- there was another curse, some kind of trickery she'd thought they were long past, by now. But they all had loopholes, and it gave her hope.
Until she couldn't find anything of any interest. No other people, no hidden dungeons, no rooms, no weapons- nothing. She'd circled back around, because at least the room had- well, others. And it was the familiar so far. She'd scoured every inch of it. They must have missed each other, in her haste- in her distraction to help the others. It's dark, and hard to see more than the outline of him-
But that voice, the command and comfort in doing it, after so long- there wasn't any mistaking it. In a second she's pushed off and running towards him]
yeah ok sure ignore my random icons
[ he meets her halfway, of course, and the fact that these kinds of reunions are basically just another tuesday doesn't do anything to dull the relief. his arms are around her a second later, and it's a second after that that he pulls away just enough to press a kiss to her lips.
and he'd be more or less content to stay right there, but the fact that they're in the middle of a strange castle still needs dealing with. when he breaks the kiss to look at her, he's smiling— for all he's glad to have found her, though, they're hardly out of the woods yet, and so it fades quickly in favor of a slightly bemused but entirely focused expression. ]
Regina. [ when in doubt, blame regina. except that doesn't feel entirely right, and a beat later: ] Something must have gone wrong with the spell.
deal!
Her fingertips settle on the arc of his cheekbones, desiring to keep him close- feel him real and soak in the fact that he's right there with her. Alone- she might not have been able to do more than put up a half decent fight. Together? They've beaten far worse. When they part, she feels like she can breath easy again, resettling her hands onto his chest to keep up the point of contact. She shifts her focus to the matter at hand]
I think so. [It's a bit uncertain, a bit apologetic, a bit- well, old hat] Whatever happened- I don't think it was on purpose. Unless- is it just us?

(Hoping for a hint of her true love didn't hurt either).
When she hears the voice calling out she freezes - but it's familiar, her eyes widening as she steps out into the light. ]
Charming?
no subject
[ not snow. but any familiar face is a good sign, and the relief is enough to subdue any fear that snow's out there, on her own. she can take care of herself; it's just a matter of finding her. david doesn't hesitate to move forward to meet belle, one hand settling on her shoulder in a gesture of comfort. ] What's the last thing you remember?
[ the smile fades as he asks, tone sincere. because the last thing he remembers, pan and the curse— it's not a good memory, for her least of all. ]

The hand on her shoulder is comforting and she relaxes, lifting her head and offering a smile. She was never as close as she would have liked to the Prince and Snow White, especially given all their relationships to Neal, Emma and Henry, but she found his company a comfort all the same. ]
Regina was breaking the curse permanently and sending us all back to the Enchanted Forest - and then I was here.
[ She doesn't mention Rumplestiltskin; she doesn't want the reminder of that horrible, painful moment nor does the want to explain the fact that she's sure, deep in her heart, that he's alive. ]
