[He's not sure if he expects the strange man to understand or not. On one hand, most people don't have the senses of an Avatar and can't feel spiritual energy, but on the other hand, that guy just had a bird nap on his head.] What about you? Are you a native, or were you brought here like me?
[He casually glances up, then perks.] Hey! [And without warning, he jumps up much higher than any human really should, then lands light as a feather on a branch above them, crouching down and peering into a knothole in the wood.] There's an animal. I've never seen that kind before. [He's close enough to the knothole to see inside, but not so close that it would be overwhelming for whatever animal there is in there. For its part, a squirrel sticks its head out of the hole, blinking at Aang for a moment before deciding he's not a threat and then pulling back in, possibly for a nap.
Aang, for his part, is fascinated. He's never seen a plain squirrel before!]

He looks up when Aang suddenly jumps up, peering up and grinning when he sees the squirrel.]
Hello there, little friend! Fear not, it is safe to venture forth. [Radagast is eager to befriend and speak to the beasts here so his voice is friendly, comforting.]

Hey! [He giggles and squirms as the squirrel bounds up his arm and down his back to the branch.] That tickles!
[And then it's running down the trunk towards Radagast, clicking softly as it goes.]
no subject
He is pleased to meet you too! And ah! yes yes! [He's distracted by listening to the chattering of the squirrel before letting it run up his hat to look about.] He knows you mean him no harm.

[And he jumps off the branch. Jumping from that high should really end with a broken bone, but he lands lightly on his feet in front of Radagast, a gust of wind blowing outwards from where he touches ground.] Can he say what he is? He looks like squirrel toad or a pheasant squirrel, just... without the toad or the pheasant. [The fauna are weird where this kid comes from.]
no subject
He's a squirrel of this forest, living in that tree which is quite old by his recollection. [The wizard nodded with certainty.]

[Aang is the furthest thing from a threat to the earth that you could get. He reaches his hand out slowly and goes to gently stroke the squirrel. He has a very light touch, but he likes to pet animals.]
I don't think I've met anyone who can hear the animals, but I have a friend who can hear the earth. She can feel everything that's going on under her feet, like if ants are making a hill or if a rock shifted or if there's a cave. She's tried to teach me, but I can still only hear the wind and what it's doing.

The trees, ah they are greeting us as well, welcoming us to their home. [Radagast said as he looked up at the branches gently waving in the wind.] Very content they are.

[He keeps stroking the squirrel, because it's a fluffy thing and he's not too proud to say that he likes fluffy things.]
How hard do you have to listen to hear the animals and the trees?
