[ Whether or not he sees the mark, Legolas doesn't let on much. Her attire alone is enough to throw him for a loop of wonder and confusion, enough to drown him in unfamiliarity like so many other things in this court; her attitude, so, so direct and more in the way of the dwarves, perhaps, or some of the hobbits he had known. And to think the elf prince had already considered himself relatively well versed in the oddities of the world, in the comparably short time he travelled beyond the borders of his home, known as Mirkwood at the time, but this isn't Arda and it brings a slew of wholly new things to see. A feast for insatiable curiosity, a trial for the way elves crave change slow or none at all.

Beyond most subtle changes in expression, a twitch of an eyelid, a tremble of a lip or the corner of the mouth, he upkeeps the easy composure, as if unperturbed, as if never moved by anything.

As they walk, he spares last glances at the couples already twirling on the floor, having watched them already before and familiarised himself with the motions. If out of nothing but curiosity for customs that were different and strange to him. The music, at least, is soft and pleasant on the ear, if entirely foreign. ]

The summons came so suddenly, it is no wonder that none of us were prepared for what lay ahead. [ He rests a hand on the small of her back, warm and gentle, arm curled around a narrow waist. A subtle, kind smile on his lips at the introduction, which he returns. ] A star shines upon the hour of our meeting, Isabelle. I am Legolas.

[ Unhurried, Legolas waits for Isabelle to give a sign she's ready. ]

[ there are times when her emotions override everything else and force her hand, but for the most part, she can respect someone that remains unruffled by their environment because it reminds her of herself. in part because she's clamped down on a secret for so long and vowed to protect her brothers from it that she can't tell the difference and the other part being how much she isn't a vulnerable, delicate little girl like she once thought Clary might be. she can play this game; she's good at it. Isabelle knows most of the steps and what she can't remember, she can learn again.

the dance steps of the crowd are varied. nothing too complex, however obviously fluid the locals made it. frankly, she's surprised she can hear the music at all since mundanes will happily dance themselves to death to the music of the Fair Folk. she's sufficiently marked against it, she has to hope.
] If we weren't each hand-picked for our ability to gracefully land on our feet and keep going, I'd be a little disappointed.

[ she places one hand on his shoulder and takes his hand in her own again. it takes some self-restraint not to lead the dance herself. the only reason she withholds is because of his words. this one's not without his charm, even if he's visibly missing everything else that she aims for in men. ] The pleasure's all mine, Legolas. If I sat there for one more minute listening to them drone on, I'd have let them bore me to death.

A fair observation. [ He says and with a lightest cant of his head, pulls her into a whirl. Putting into motion all that he observed just now and all that he had learned at Aragorn's court. His friend certainly enjoyed making things a touch difficult for Legolas, and dancing in the ways of the Men was one of the easier ways to confuse him at the beginning. He caught on quickly and the beginnings were hardly graceless, but Aragorn still found joy and amusement in the startled and confused looks. ] Though it may not necessarily be so that the shards we are said to carry were granted on warriors and warriors alone. I have not spoken with enough folk here to be able to tell.

[ Only a handful to start, those who bothered him and such that seemed most curious to him, most strange or knowledgeable. ]

The fairies themselves speak in riddles almost, share what they will without much in terms of true content, but with plenty of unnecessary padding.

[ Elves liked beautiful speech, rhymes and poems, songs that could go on for hours. Legolas was no different, but a warrior at his core, and seeking information and knowledge to see the bigger picture, he preferred answers concise and meaningful.

The corner of his lips remains quirked, the humour not lost on him though her speech is odd to him. ]

It could tire even an elf, indeed.
