[At least they're on the same page here, that has to count for something? Not for much accord, but still.]

What is your role in all of this?

[It's a twofold question - is he with those that are behind it in some way, and if not, what side would he be on.]

There are birds in the trees, which whisper their words in the wind for those who will listen and heed their words. That is where my role is, as it has always been.

[Radagast said as he leaned down to pick up a small mouse which had simply stopped by to greet him. Wars will always be fought, but his duty has been to the living creatures who need his protection even here. That's whose side he's on.]

No doubt you have your part to play as well. [The wizard remarks, his gaze sharp as he turns to Fëanor once more.]

I do indeed.

[It required time and a good deal of deliberations, but at this point he has decided that being here is actually not even a detour, it's just a different path. And he can even laugh at how terribly his sudden absence must confuse the Valar.

Not that he appreciates the way in which he was brought here at all, or some of the other circumstances. But so it is.]

I take it that you came alone to those parts?

[Radagast doesn't have to speak a warning, his expression says it all before he leans away. Well, he could hope for the best but Fëanor is someone he'll have to keep tabs on, it seems. ]

That's right, just me. We seem to be the only two, hm? [The wizard said with a shake of his head, even the Elves couldn't get Radagast to leave his woods usually, and especially not without his bird friends.]

[It's not a notion that the Noldor resents, moreover one that he shares - truly alone or not, he will keep tabs on Radagast, at least to the degree where it is reasonable. He doesn't have many people to keep an eye on these days, though, so it's not like he doesn't have the capacity to spare.

The question is responded to with a short nod. It seem that way - not the only ones in general, but the only ones who hail from Arda, one way or the other.]
Nor are any to be found among those that arrived here long ago. [After finding out about the different times that one could arrive, he's been searching around the courts and extended his search outside of them as well. There are a number of people of whose presence he would want to know, one way or the other.]

[personal profile] aiwendil 2014-03-19 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Radagast frowns thoughtfully at that. Why just the two of them? It seems an odd choice for the powers that be which had brought them here. As it was, he had never been terribly involved in the matters of the outside world, he did not expect that to change here.]

Most strange indeed. [The wizard said with more of a distressed look. At least if Gandalf was here, well, it seemed there was nothing to be done for it.] What do you intend to do now, hm?

[An odd choice indeed, in any regard. But not the only choice of whom to abduct or invite that is strange and odd. He doubts that there is an order to it.]

Continue this journey and then return to the court.

[And that is the most detailed description that Radagast will get.]

[And the wizard suspects this is the best answer he'll be able to get out of Fëanor. All he can do is keep an eye on things unless measures force him to intervene.]

This is a different world, you would do well to remember that. [He's almost serious now, the implication clear. He doesn't want to have to interfere but if he's the only one of the Istari here, it's all up to him.]

As would you.

It is not the Valar who lord over it, and little shield can they give you here, nor constrain anyone.

[There are limitations, and hierarchies, and while he resents some aspects, there are others that are of too much use to disregard them, and choices that are not possible.]

[personal profile] aiwendil 2014-03-19 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose this world does not change who we always will be.

[Even if the Valar may hold no sway here, Radagast is sure that there are still forces looking after the well being of this realm. At least, so he's hoping.]

It seems to change some outer details, yet not touch one's core.

So it would seem. [There is a heavy resignation, perhaps they are fated to play out history once more. they each had their part to play, even in such a new land.]
