[Can he truly argue that? He has, of course, seen the terrible nature of humanity in both worlds, but he has also seen the very best. Funny what war can bring out in people.

After a moment, he speaks, his voice quiet and thoughtful, though no less sure of himself.]

Sometimes it is hard for people to see beyond themselves. It is part of being human, and unfortunately there are times when circumstance can overshadow the good in people.

[He elaborates, because he feels as if the Terminator is asking something more, something someone who isn't human might ask.]

Humans are capable of great tragedy, but they are also capable of great good. The capacity for both is what makes us so great and terrible at once. It is what makes every person worthwhile, why every person deserves a chance. Something, I think, that also extends to those who aren't human.

Perhaps you have only been privy to negative experiences, which I am sorry for. I hope that selfishness isn't all that humanity can offer you.

[ooc: hrgh sorry for the lateness, chrome's being a pain and making it hard to tag.]
unclebob: (I cannot self-terminate)

[He listens with the patient of air of someone who is just there absorb information. It's a quality most people have lost, too eager to wait for the other person to finish and add in their own point of view. There's no interruptions, not until he is absolutely sure Peter is done talking.]

What you have said is very much what someone told me not too long ago. He showed me humanity is not beyond saving. [An add-on to John's small, scattered speeches of why humanity was important.]

Thank you for your words. I will have to think upon them.

[OOC: No worries! Stuff happens.]
sublimity: (Didn't I tell you?)

[His respect for him increases, for it isn't often someone is willing to listen after they have formed their own opinions, especially on a subject like this one.]

I'm glad.

[It's terrible to think someone has only seen the ugly side of humanity, so he truly is happy to know the Terminator isn't one of them.

His smile turns cheeky in response (he might be a little abashed by the thanks).]

You can thank me by going to the infirmary.
unclebob: (Trust me)

[Peter's insistence on getting him treated provokes the first genuine smile the machine has made while being here.]

You never give up, do you?

[Maybe the boy has a point. Even if his mechanical parts can't be fixed, he can at least get the blood washed off and some clean bandages put on his face.]
sublimity: (We shall have spring again.)

oh no stop making me like this cr

[He grins, pleased by the smile that is finally making an appearance, as well as what he takes as acquiesce.]

I see you've learned. Perhaps you will be less difficult in the future.

[It's in jest of course, though he's definitely serious about the infirmary visit.]

Nevar! :P

Don't count on it.

[He may be a machine with limited emotions, but he still knows how to respond to some jokes.]

Before I go to the infirmary, may I ask your name?
sublimity: (Default)

hdu, i never asked for this!!

[personal profile] sublimity 2014-03-21 07:54 am (UTC)(link)

[He laughs, eyes crinkled in amusement.

It is only at the query that the mirth disappears into embarrassed dismay.]

By Jove! I'm terribly sorry for my rudeness. My name is Peter, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

[He offers his hand to shake.]
unclebob: (Torn up)

[The Terminator extends his good hand, offering an inhumanely firm grasp as he shakes.]

I was never given a human name. Most refer to me only as a Terminator. [A name that no longer fits, now that he's stopped his wanton killing machine ways.]
