I'm sorry - I probably should have said that first. Instinct took me, I suppose. But I'm being rude, I should introduce myself. I am Lúthien, daughter of Thingol and Melian, the rulers of Doriath.

[She's cute, whoever she is.]

Lúthien?

[Her eyes widen, just a fraction, and takes in the introduction. This shouldn't be possible. Lúthien was dead and so was Beren. So was Thingol. And Doriath was gone. Ages have passed since those days. Could the fairies do that? Steal away the dead? But then, wouldn't Lúthien know about that? And about her fathers death?

Very little time passes as these thoughts race through her mind before she smiles and dips her head respectfully.]

I am Celebrían, daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel of Lothlorien.

[rapunzelf]

[............... o h. Well so much for trying to hook up Artanis and Celeborn, she supposed, unless there was another of that name. Which... there might be, considering they were apparently from a place she had never heard of.]

I confess I am unfamiliar with Lothlorien. I do know a Celeborn, but as far as I know he has not left.

Lothlorien is just west of the Misty Mountains. It is... so beautiful, I have happily called it home for many years.

[But soon home would be Imladris.]

My father dwelt once in Doriath. As did my mother. She was you mothers student, if I remember rightly.

[Wow, Bri is actually kind of having fun with this. Come on Luuuu.]

How strange, for I thought I knew the lands known to the people of Doriath, but this is a land strange to me.

Is it possible that you are mistaken? For I have known, I think, all of my mother's students, and know no Galadriel.

Lothlorien, I think, is far beyond the borders of Doriath and will not be for another Age.

[Grinning just the tiniest bit.]

I am not. You would know her best as Artanis.

[rapunzelf]

[There is a moment of surprise at that, almost shock. Then that passes, and Lúthien is left looking deeply satisfied.]

They did marry, then? I knew they would go well together.

[But hang on]

Will not be for another Age? Are we not from the same times? Is that possible?

[That satisfied look, she didn't expect that. A story to ask her mother about later.]

They did. And they are amazing together.

[Oh. Oh crap.]

It... should not be. But these fairies, it seems, are more powerful and crafty than we know.

[rapunzelf]

I knew they would be. Artanis - or Galadriel, did you say her name was now? - wasted so much time worrying about it, though.

I wonder what else they can do, then.

Did they really? [As much as her parents love each other, she can't imagine them dancing around it and wasting time. Like how Elrond spent so many years not saying anything.]

I imagine we will find out in time. Whether we wish it or not.

[rapunzelf]

You wouldn't believe how many lingering stares the rest of us had to pretend to ignore.

Or not, in my case, though I didn't mention too much to him.

[That's a slightly more somber topic]

I imagine we shall - though the power to draw an elf away from Arda in the first place is not slight.

I would not have been able to ignore them.

[Oh Bri, please, do you know how many lingering stares everyone ignored between you and Elrond?]

I did only say pretend. After all, they were difficult to ignore.

[She smiled at the question, almost laughed.]

I saw a great deal more of your mother than your father, and so she was much easier to talk to.

[It is something that needs consideration, and that makes things more difficult to ignore. And something that she wants less to ignore in any case.]

[Well, not her, but she doesn't really know that yet.]

Were they really so obvious?

[The smile is practically contagious.]

[At least they both know it needs to be considered, that they can't completely ignore it as others in the party might or already have.]

It was painful to watch them, quite often.

Of course. She is almost my sister, and he is the cousin I was always getting in trouble when we were young.

[She reaches out to the woman, her mothers friend, and touches her arm.]

Mother keeps very busy but you have always held a place in her heart. Many things have happened since she left Doriath, many years.

[rapunzelf]

[Many years since they last had seen each other. How could that have happened? But the how didn't matter, perhaps, as apparently it had.]

I see.

[She had enough without Lúthien to bother her.]

[silvergift]

[She can't stand to see this upsetting Luthien so she smiles brightly and reaches to take her hand.]

What better time than now for me to better know my mothers dearest friend?

[rapunzelf]

[If that was so then why had they lost all contact? For it didn't make sense. But she tries to summon a smile. It's still not nearly as bright as once it had been.]

It would be foolish to waste this opportunity, I will agree.

[silvergift]

[DETERMINED TO CHEER HER UP NOW

So sorry that she's a bad liar Lu.]

Come then, let us find somewhere more comfortable and less crowded.

[rapunzelf]

[She may prove difficult to cheer, for she does not know what she did, but assumes it must have been something. And how can she be cheerful in those circumstances? But she will go with the silver-haired girl just the same, because she has nothing better to do, and because Lady Celebrían wishes to be near her.]

I do not, I fear, know this place well enough to find anywhere like that.

[silvergift]

[You died but that's nothing she can tell her. Galadriel would give her a lecture and mom lectures are the worst.]

Nor do I. It will be an adventure for us both~
