thearseman: (very interesting)

[If there's one thing they can both agree on it's that neither of them want Jess to hit them. They shut their mouths immediately, for once wearing guilty expressions that match. It's Rudy that leans forward to grab the cup of her, abandoning his old one on the edge of the next table over.]

Thank you. [Though his tone and pointed look at his counterpart indicate his gratitude is more aimed at her "support" in that their argument is useless. Still, he seems more genuinely thankful when he turns back to smile at her. Definitely a lot more friendly if nothing else.] Or as the French might say, je m'appelle.

[Rudy Too shakes his head, choosing to ignore Rudy's lack of skill in foreign languages and stand up.] I'll go and find you another.
xray: (bite your tongue)

[She stares at Rudy for a few moments, face knotted up in scrutinizing confusion as she attempts to figure out if he's messing around or not. In the end, she decides that no, he probably doesn't know what he's talking about and so she chuckles and shakes her head, turning her attention onto Rudy Too.]

Get in a bit of looking around while you're at it, yeah? Might help you feel less...

[She shrugs as she trails off, not about to assume Rudy's other self would ever lose some of that anxiety toward each and every little thing. She pauses, pulling a welp face, before glancing back over at Rudy. Eyes are fully on him once again as she plops down to sit next to him.]

Anyway, if you're gonna try and impress me with French? It's merci.
thearseman: (would you like to see my penis?)

[Rudy Too nods before he leaves, looking about as doubtful as Jess that looking around will make him feel any less anything. Wertham is bad enough, but this place... he doesn't trust any of it. He doesn't really trust Rudy One not to get himself in trouble while he's gone either, but with Jess around maybe he can get away with looking around a little bit on his own before he comes back.

Rudy One, meanwhile, is more bothered about his conversation with Jess than he is to pay much attention to his other half going off on his own. He's been getting used to him doing that more in recent times anyway, and Jess is significantly less depressing to talk to as well as being far more attractive.]

Now, why would I be wanting you to have mercy? You've got other me off my back, you've brought me coffee, and you're sitting here right next to me. Besides, that isn't even a French word. That's English, in't it?

[Honestly, it's almost like Jess managed to pay less attention in school than he did.]
xray: (you can trust me. entirely.)

[personal profile] xray 2014-03-23 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[And cue more staring.]

Not that kind of mercy, don't be stupid.

[SIGH. The things she has to put up with.]

In French, it means thank you. Je m'appelle or whatever in the hell you said means you're telling someone your name. Not that any of this shit actually matters, since we're still stuck here, no matter how many languages you manage to cock-up.

[She's smarter than people give her credit for, okay. And any chance she can get to correct Rudy is always good fun. So she has a pleased smirk on her face as she slouches back in her seat, reaching over to take her coffee back.]

thearseman: (my beautiful cock)

[personal profile] thearseman 2014-03-23 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Bloody hell. You don't have to look so smug about it. It's an easy mistake. And you aren't even going to let me keep me coffee. [Which, let's be real, is the worst part. He's so offended by her coffee stealing.] See if I ever nick you anything from the vending machine again. You wouldn't catch our Finley rubbing his French in, and he's got himself a GCSE in it.

[Just as well he has another coffee on standby. He retrieves his previous cup, which was just as good and did not have fairy spit in it no matter what his counterpart told him.]
xray: (not the time or place)

[personal profile] xray 2014-03-23 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Amused, she just laughs and takes a sip, before passing it back over to him.]

If you're gonna whine about it, you can have the damn thing back.

[She doesn't really need the extra caffeine anyway. She's wired enough as it is. She shifts into a more serious demeanor with that, allowing a little of her worry to show.]

Figuring out what we're gonna do here is more important than any of that.
thearseman: (pissed as a rat)

[personal profile] thearseman 2014-03-24 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you don't have to give it me. Got me own, don't I? [Just don't tell Too and everything will be fine.

Unsurprisingly, Jess' concerns are something Rudy hasn't even considered. He looks perplexed at her worry, shrugging his shoulders as though acting like it doesn't matter automatically means that it really doesn't.]

Since when did we start figuring out what we're going to do? It seems all right so far. I mean, nobody's died yet. No one's making us pick up any litter. I vote we just sit around, do nothing, and if things go to shit we worry about it then.
