Morrigan | Dragon Age | ota

[Neither the Seelie or Unseelie courts are unfamiliar to her any longer, so often has she walked their halls. But she has no interest in striking up conversations with new arrivals, even as they feast on the food that's been left out for them. Others may welcome them, but not her. No, Morrigan treads carefully in a guise she uses rather often, relying on her magical talents rather than her diplomatic skills (of which there are few, as some may say).

She pads her way around in the form of a black cat, golden eyes flicking side to side with interest as she winds between people's legs and trips them up. At length, she will find a place at the end of the table to sit and watch, to look for familiar faces, and to gauge the will of those newly arrived.

You may even catch a glimpse of her true form, of a woman with raven hair dressed in wild clothes - or perhaps a gown, if you are lucky - who stands askance and does not speak.

But it is fleeting, as soon she will be a cat once more and padding out of the room and down the hall, more interested in what lies away from the merriment, locked away and out of reach.]

[ooc: morrigan can be new or she could have seen/spoken with your character before if you want to assume CR. I'm easy so go wild!]

[She's probably noticed him a few times by now, keeping to the shadows of both the Seelie and the Unseelie halls. Where some may go and have joyous festivities, Garrett instead chooses to explore, to wander, to steal. It doesn't matter what little trinket those pair of earrings belong to, or the bracelet or even that little chalice, it's his now. The Unseelie had happily stolen him away, yet he has no intention of joining either side. He's a thief, not a soldier, and so he has no interest in fighting a war. Not unless he can reap the benefits without picking a side.

His feet make their way along the carpeted floor, but he is silent, hands slipping from his cloak to snatch something that catches his eye, or pull out a pair of lockpicks lodged in his gloves beneath the folds of his wrists. Picking locks is like child's play, but that doesn't mean he isn't cautious. There are glances to the left and right, listening for approaching footsteps, using his Focus to see potential dangers or ways to use something to his advantage.

Morrigan can bother him whenever she likes. He won't appreciate it, but that certainly doesn't mean she shouldn't try.]
wildness: (do not be such a blind foold)

[She is no stranger to thieves and their ilk, though this one seems much more content to push his limits in either court. The Unseelie look for him; the Seelie have no use for him. Morrigan finds him intriguing if not predictable, since she knows he will eventually return and look for more trinkets to pilfer. Whether he has a bounty on his head makes no difference.

She can think of a few people he reminds her of.

More to the point: Garrett is pushing his luck and Morrigan is in the right mood to investigate what has caught his eye. And so she follows him to one of the back rooms, one he's unlocked and slipped inside, and she slides in like a shadow, silent and unnoticed. Her cat eyes find him easily in the dark and she waits until she sees what he is doing - stealing a painting, this time - before she interrupts, her present form melting away to leave her standing there, arms folded.]

Well, well. What have we here?

[There is a razor in hand as he cuts through the canvas, gently and quickly removing it from the frame, eyes already looking for other loot to grab. But when Morrigan speaks, he goes rigid for a second, hand to the Blackjack instantly. He doesn't immediately turn, however- he had made sure to loot the area when he was certain others would not be around, and most people make a riot when moving.

So how had this woman come in without him even hearing her?

Garrett's head turns slowly, right eye flaring a little as he inspects her, Focus telling him she's alert and aware, yet not hostile. Not yet, at least.]

That depends on what you think it is.

[Sarcasm. Clearly it's the best choice as of now. Confrontation is a possibility, but he wants to make sure he can get out of it first before striking.]

[Galadriel has strayed away from the festivities herself, carrying a glass of wine out to one of the little gardens adjacent to the feasting hall. She's lost in her own thoughts when she notices a little black cat winding her way along the path.

A cat who is more than she seems, she thinks.]

You may take your true form, if you wish. [She sips from her glass.] I am alone here, for the moment, and there is little need to continue your charade for my sake.
wildness: (I am not fond of sharing)

[personal profile] wildness 2014-03-24 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[And who is this that deems themselves so important as to call out to her? Morrigan is uncertain whether she feels offended or curious at the intrusion, that someone might know what she is even in the form she wears. The cat seems put off, eyes narrowed, and then she is slipping past Galadriel and changing her form, becoming herself once more.]

You say that as though I was carrying a charade for you at all.

[It was for her own benefit, after all.]
inafadingcrown: (You knew)

[She turns to face Morrigan, her eyes sharp and keen, but softened by amusement.

For the plants, then? For one usually dons a disguise only the presence of others. And, as I noted, I am alone here.
