[Galadriel is mingling in the crowd, trying to get a better sense of this place- of what she (perhaps foolishly) has walked into. It's only by chance that she turns at the right time, catching sight of Lúthien out of the corners of her eyes.

And she has to look again to be sure of what she's seeing. It's impossible. It's completely impossible, but there she is anyway, as breathtaking as Galadriel remembers her.

She approaches, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder to get her attention.]

Lúthien? [She almost expects to wake up when she speaks, to find that this is only some queer dream.]

[She spun at the touch, eyes widening briefly with surprise, before she burst into the same smile as she had always had, when she was still alive - bright and contagious.]

Artanis? Here is a meeting unlooked for; I would not have thought to find you here.

Nor I you. [And that was the truth, at least. She reaches out to take her friend's hands.] But it is a comfort to see a familiar face.

I suppose you have the right of it - Father would hardly approve of my presence.

[She takes them warmly, smiling.]

But tell me, how came you to be here? Did the fairies lead you as well?

['Father.' Oh, how hearing Luthien say that pains her heart. Not that you would know it from her face- it's the same smile as ever, steady, not too revealing of what she's actually thinking.]

They did. If I had realized I would not be able to return, I might not have followed them so readily.

[She once knew her well, well enough that she might have caught the momentary pain, but Galadriel is not Artanis, and the long years have changed her.]

I confess my situation is much the same. I tried to step back through but could not, and nothing I've tried thus far has led me home again. I was hoping I could find a solution here, but nothing that is here has helped me.
