Radagast had to admit that even if this wasn't Mirkwood and the strange magic around him still set him on edge, the birds were still very friendly and made for good companionship. But now it was time to explore as much as he was able to, there was still so much to find out about this world.

Since there were no other wizards around, he supposed this task fell to him. Like he had ventured into the old fortress, he ventured into the hall, poking around, sniffing, prodding with his staff before scurrying on frantically.

"Strange place, is it not?" he said, wringing his hands as he approached. One of the race of Men this one seemed to be, Radagast looked him over before nodding. "Very strange indeed, the magic is most peculiar."

"Strange would be one word for it." House tilted his head, taking a moment to assess the stranger. He'd seen enough in the castle already that a basically human-looking man wasn't particularly noteworthy. Well, not noteworthy except that he appeared to be the kind of man who liked to get close to nature. Maybe a little too close.

"I take it you're new here, too?"

"Ah yes, I am still a stranger to these parts as well," Radagast nodded, tilting his hat up to let his bird friend out from the nest which had been hidden underneath. He peered at him once more before turning away slightly. "I don't like this magic, not one bit. Come, come!" the wizard said, gesturing for the other to follow him. "We can't stop here."
huge_egomd: (you srsly did what?)

House's eyebrows rose. The other man had gotten way closer to nature than he could've imagined. Or possibly he just had a weird thing for birds. Either way....

"You had a bird on your...." He shook his head, still flabbergasted but realizing there was no real point in stating the obvious. The bird man already knew he had a nest on his head.

Despite his rather confused state, or perhaps because of it, he started to follow the stranger. "I'm probably going to regret asking but...why can't we stop here?"

"Well, where else would my friend have been comfortable?" The brown wizard asked as if was simply so obvious. To him it was, why wouldn't the space under his hat provide a safe place for his bird friends? He turned around them, tilting his head to the side. "Why would you want to stay here? Is there something?" he looked around almost frantically, clutching his staff.

"Well, here's a crazy thought--how about a tree?" He had issues with the whole pet thing...but then, he had issues with pretty much everything. Still, he felt most people couldn't be trusted to take care of themselves. They certainly shouldn't be trusted to be responsible for anyone or anything else.

Besides, a bird on the head--that just wasn't sanitary.

"I don't necessarily want to stay." The other man's concern was nearly infectious and House found himself glancing over his shoulder, just in case something had crept up on him. Then he shook his head, mentally chiding himself for getting spooked. After all, anything there would likely be something out of the dark corners of his own mind.... Okay, on second thought, that was actually something to be concerned about.

"My question is why do you want to leave? Are you expecting something to be here?"

"What about a tree?" Radagast wasn't sure where House was going with this. Men were such a particular race, how Gandalf put up with it he had no idea. "You have spoken to the trees as well?" the wizard asked, narrowing his eyes in surprise. "They are quite friendly here!" he added, smiling suddenly as if they shared a secret.

"Something? Anything could be here!" Radagast said as if the danger was right there, right now. Maybe he was a little more on edge due to the fact being inside was not something he was used to but the magic around them didn't help that either.

House's intended explanation of the relationship between the birds and the trees was completely derailed by the rest of what Bird Man had to say. "Talk...? No, no conversing with the wood." And then, because he just had to know, "Do they talk back to you?"

House was starting to feel on edge himself. He'd been doing a pretty good job of just going with the crazy flow--the wine helped--but he was really starting to wonder what might jump out from the shadows. "What kinds of anythings? Scary anythings? Are we talking monsters or men with really big swords or boy bands?"
