Aveline Vallen (dragon age 2)

[ the explanation given upon her arrival has yet to sink in to Aveline, many things stick out - seelie, unseelie, unfamiliar as they are to her. She's no stranger to magic, to demons, abominations (and that was just another week in Kirkwall)... Maker, even a high dragon recently. She's fought and faced as such, but can't imagine what they want with her. Hawke was the one with a knack for getting into situations like this, usually she just happens to be with the woman when they pick her up.

She feels odd, and out of place. The unfamiliarness of it all doesn't sit well with her, the feeling of being thrown out of what she knows she can handle isn't exactly a new one to Aveline but she doesn't like it. Pressing two fingers over the bridge of her nose, she sighs.

Better to be seen as unhappy with this turn of events, to hide her true discomfort - she walks through the hall of people, some kind of banquet going on? Her mood could hardly be counted as celebratory, but it's a good as any way to get some better insight on the situation from others here, she supposes.

All of this makes her long for the problems that are more easily solved by bashing a shield into a thugs skull, truthfully. ]

[ Aveline isn't Anders' favorite person, but a familiar face is a familiar face, and it could be worse. It could be Fenris. When he sees her he doesn't hesitate to press past the strangers between them to stand at her side, staff in one hand and apple in the other. He hasn't seen this much food—ever, actually, but certainly not in the last six years. ]

Guard Captain—should I still call you Guard Captain?

[ He's never called her Guard Captain in his life—not much for titles, Anders—and he wouldn't do it now if he weren't being an ass. Try arresting him now. ]

Pity Isabela isn't around. You could commiserate about your empty titles.

[ Anders is not the first person she would have expected to see (although what about this is expected?), but at least she knows that she is not alone. She turns to greet him with a stiff nod, ignoring the food for now. ]

[ Or it probably would, given Anders' staff and Aveline's—entire person. He polishes his apple on his coat, beneath the feathers, and smiles at her a little too sharply to be friendly. ]

[ She has to shake her head, and inwardly rolls her eyes. ]

I didn't exactly get a choice in coming here, or who I came with, clearly. [ and if that is not a pointed look at Anders, well... ] So if he is here I've yet to actually find him.

Isabela's taken to all of in a manner that can be described as not well, but she's also good at playing blithe. Seeing the captain of the guard is a small relief, actually. At least there's something familiar. ]

[ ... well. Who else was she going to run into but Isabela? Her thoughts are of a similar nature, at least it's someone that she knows but has yet to decide if that is actually... a good thing. It's still not exactly an ideal situation.
