I'm hardly a lady. And Father says to never trust a boy that insists on being a gentleman.

[She protests, knowing she could do enough damage to Pugsley with it. But still, she's not going to force him to fight (at least not yet), and reaches forward to take the arrow from him.]

My crossbow assembly needs work too. It pulls too far to the right.

[Huff.]

Unfortunately.

You don't need a father to make up your mind for you. Think whatever you want, but the arrow is yours. I'll not keep it.

[ He peers at her weapon. ]

Do you make many of these? This is better than any of the bows my Lost Boys can build.

[Crouching down to pick up her crossbow, she gives a curt nod.]

Uncle Fester taught me.

[There's a pause, as she takes a moment to look him up and down.]

Have you always been able to fly?
infant: (i seek you out)

You don't need an uncle either. Grown-ups aren't to be trusted.

[ Peter shrugs as he sits on the edge of the table, playing with his dagger. ]

I suppose so. For a long time, anyway. [ Not always, no, but he doesn't want anyone to know about his first home with the birds on that little island, about being so upset he couldn't fly for so long. ] You could fly too if the fairies here had any pixie dust, but they don't.
drearily: (are they made from real girl scouts?)

Don't they?

[She's certain one of the fairies around has to have some sort of flying dust in them. Setting aside her crossbow on the table, she climbs up to stand with him.]

Maybe you haven't tried shaking the right ones.

I don't think it would matter if you shook all of them at once, their dust doesn't do anything. I tried it on the boys over there.

[ Who are dumb enough to at least have one happy thought knocking around and float, with a bit of the right kind of pixie dust. ]

What's your name?
