It seems that way. It's not as nice as Cair Paravel, but I suppose I don't have much choice.

You could come away and live with me, Susan. I shall find somewhere safe, away from the grown-ups, and live there with the fairies as I used to in Neverland.

It's kind of you to offer, but I couldn't accept. I need to be on the look-out for my siblings. They need me.

[maybe this is why she reminds you of Wendy, Peter. She does have a similar "mother" thing about her]

[ So much deja vu going on. A little too much, in fact. ]

Are they called John and Michael?

[ ... It's worth asking. ]

[she actually laughs at that] Peter and Edmund, actually. And I also have a sister named Lucy. You two would get along very well.

[infant]

I like girls, they are always so frightfully clever and more useful than twenty boys.

[ He looks her in the eye with a smile while he admits it, not a bit shy. He's cunning in that he knows not to let it show, but there's nothing malicious in the idea that springs into his head. ]

Don't you think so, Susan?

[marksqueen]

[oh Peter, you charmer. It's kind of adorable, really. Susan gives him a smile]

And what use would a girl be among your Lost Boys besides being a mother?

[infant]

Oh, we do need a pretend mother though. Wendy plays it so seriously that it isn't fun, sometimes.

[ (Wendy gets so strange about it when he tells her he is bored of being Father to her Mother and Peter has no idea why. He doesn't like it when Wendy is angry.) He strolls behind her, a hand lightly touching her arm as he leans in. ]

If you come away with me then your sister could take care of your brothers, Susan. I'll show you such magical creatures, they all know me. I will take all the children here who don't want to be told what to do and give them somewhere safe to live and play. You would be the lady of the house. I would never let anyone say a word against you.

[marksqueen]

[Peter... her face softens. You try so hard]

You can't enchant me away, Peter. I... someone told me I was too old to ever go back to a magical land I loved. I may be too old for you, too.

[infant]

I don't care what anyone else says. Susan, do you want to grow up? Don't you want to stay a girl and have fun forever? You can! Don't listen to other people. Follow your own heart.

[ He steps in front of her, holding one of her hands. ]

Neverland is where I come from and no one ever has to grow up there if they don't wish it, that is my law. I could take you back with me when we are done here with this silly war. All my Lost Boys are going to leave me, did I tell you? I will be all alone.

I wish you would come.

[does she want to grow up? She's already so mature for her age. She's felt adulthood before, when she was a queen in Narnia. If Peter came to her sooner then maybe, but now... She was already too old to go back to Narnia. What did it matter if she grew up]

Oh, Peter. I'm afraid I've already grown up.

[infant]

[ The look he gives her as he pulls away is one of deepest betrayal, never mind they only just met and he hardly knows her; it's such a crime to have grown up that Peter's attitude cools immediately, a haughty cant lifting his chin. ]

Then I will withdraw, woman, and leave you be.

[marksqueen]

[look it hurts her, too. Growing up means she can never go back to Narnia, and she had just learned that very recently. Of course Peter doesn't know, but she can't help the hurt that enters her eyes.

She holds her head high and gives him another curtsey]

It was my honor and pleasure speaking with you.

[infant]

[ There's no bow forthcoming, he simply flies up above into the rustling canopy, pausing only to lend her a disgruntled, callous sort of expression. ]

Goodbye, Susan. You have killed your own magic, but I shan't let you harm mine.

[ The leaves shiver as he rushes through them, far off into the sky with a train of fairies in tow. ]
