[ isaac. derek comes to a complete stop to look at him, like he wants to be sure he's here, before he tries to parse the questions, figure out answers. it's difficult, with isaac. derek isn't entirely sure where they stand, fairy castle and ridiculous feast aside, but he still nods in answer, relieved at finding one familiar face. ]

No. And I haven't found anyone we know either.

[ he should take a yet onto that sentence, but optimism doesn't come easily to derek. ]

[ a little stiffly, like derek isn't sure how that question is going to be received. ]

Yeah, same here.

[isaac lets out a frustrated sigh, jaw clenching as he searches his mind for a response. he's not okay, he hasn't been just "okay" for a while now. it's hard to even form the right answer, especially here. and derek isn't exactly the person that isaac would open up to. they just don't sit right together anymore- he's not sure if they ever did.

instead of answering right away, he opens his arms to motion to the room -- the situation -- and presses his lips into a thin line.]

[ words like "okay" and "fine" have gotten so skewed in derek's vocabulary, have been relegated to catch-alls. so long as he's alive, still breathing, he's okay. he's fine. he doesn't know if he likes seeing that behavior repeated in isaac, wonder if it's something derek instilled in him or if it was there before derek crashed into the scene. ]

Great. [ derek echoes, sarcastic, then shakes his head. ] We should find a way out.

[ and derek doesn't really need much help to work out that actually finding the exit is easier said than done. ]

[sometimes isaac wishes derek would press on certain matters, offer a bit of optimism here and there, but he knows that will never happen. he's just not that type of person, so when derek offers to try and find a way out, isaac can only give a reluctant nod.]

You sure we shouldn't look around more?

[and it may just be him, but he's not so sure finding a way out will be as easy a feat as it sounds.]
