gordianknots: In a room of strangers I guess I'm glad I don't belong (We are genii)

Honestly, I assume that this place's magic is enough means of sustenance, but I could be terribly and amusingly incorrect and put you in unfair danger.

Your monarchs usually hold court after new arrivals. You could always ask them for clarification, if all else fails.
oathshackledbird: Calm (Calm)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, that is an option, but they are very busy at the moment. Perhaps I can request an audience with them at a later time. I have a few...special talents they may have a use for.

This place does have quite a bit of magic in it. It's nice. It reminds me of home. I suppose, though, it is not so nice for many of those brought here.
gordianknots: Bittersweet on the tongue (But you can't build Jerusalem)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Usually they're a few days after the feast. It's impossible to get in touch with them otherwise, save special circumstances. Take advantage of them offering their time when they do it.

I find it irritating to be dragged into another person's war, if anything.
oathshackledbird: Smile (Smile)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Diarmuid bows his head gratefully.]

Thank you for the advice. I will make certain to make the most of that opportunity. I am not one to sit around and watch, so I would hate to miss that chance.

I agree. I would prefer to be back home finishing what I was summoned to do, but if I must finish this war before I can do that, then I intend to finish it.
gordianknots: I'll take it as it comes (You can take your lamb of God)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Be careful of what they tell you though, beyond your basic inquiry. Neither side seems to be above manipulating the people they've called to their courts.

Truth be told, the war isn't worth fighting. Not for the people in charge.
oathshackledbird: Stern (Stern)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[The man's statements bring a confused look to Diarmuid's face. From what he has seen so far, the lord and lady of this court seem honest and straightforward...]

And why do you say that? What is the point of bringing us here only to lie to us?
gordianknots: I'll take it as it comes (You can take your lamb of God)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
They need people to fight and to accomplish errands that they otherwise can't. Their game is very long, and very, very exhausting.
oathshackledbird: Nod (Nod)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[A small light suddenly kindles in Diarmuid's eyes. That almost sounds like a challenge.]

It's a good thing I am patient and not easily tired then, isn't it?
gordianknots: Tuesday night down at the monster's ball (You know exactly how clever sounds)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Step carefully, at any rate, and consider everything before you fully commit to the court that's summoned you.
oathshackledbird: Profile (Profile)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I will keep your warning in mind, though I don't know that I see much choice besides working with the court that summoned me. It is one court or the other, is it not?

[Besides, it will take more than the words of a man who has not identified himself to sway Diarmuid from what looks to him to be a good and noble cause. Still, he does know that even what is good and noble can be corrupted. It does not hurt to keep his eyes open and his senses aware.]
gordianknots: Sing your society song - it never changes (We all love the Smiths and dig the Clash)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
There's plenty of people who've taken their leave of both courts and work to find their own way.
oathshackledbird: Surprise (Surprise)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
There are?

[Diarmuid seems genuinely surprised by this.]

No one has mentioned that...
gordianknots: I will not sing along (But the smell of leather is intoxicating)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Why would either court want to inform the people they've summoned to fight on their behalf about an alternate option?
oathshackledbird: Red (Red)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Because it would be the honorable thing to do? How is one to fight to their fullest ability if they are not given all the information there is about the situation?

[What sense does it make to handicap your own warriors?]
gordianknots: Please don't waste your pity votes on me (Default)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Because that's not in their best interests, now is it? Honour can hold back pragmatism that's needed in state matters, for example.
oathshackledbird: Yes? (Yes?)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Honor holds back nothing when one understands it properly.

[A suspicious look enters Diarmuid's gaze.]

From the way you talk, one would almost think that you are one of those who has broken from both courts and seek to draw more to your cause.
gordianknots: That's for you and the truth (You can win and win and win again)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
By all means then, ask your court for all the information.
oathshackledbird: Angle (Angle)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I have already said I will make the most of the audience I get. Worry not about that.

[And...no comment on the other statement. How interesting.]
gordianknots: So fix your sad eye on someone worthier (Don't know bout us but I know bout them)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Because it's entirely correct. No need to correct it.]

Good luck, then.
oathshackledbird: Waiting (Waiting)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
And I wish the same to you. Thank you for the information you have given me. I have much to think about.
gordianknots: So fix your sad eye on someone worthier (Don't know bout us but I know bout them)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
If I've prompted critical thinking about being here, then I'm very, very pleased to have done so.
oathshackledbird: Calm (Calm)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Unlike many of the warriors of my time, I was know for thinking as well as acting. I will weigh the situation closely as I gather information about it.

[It is foolish to throw oneself into battle without having thought about the situation. Why give you enemy such an advantage?]
gordianknots: How could you get it so wrong? (We're all brilliant minds)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-12 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Good to know.

[And Waver has no more words. It's odd, being this concealing about things, but it's needed. Far more than with Berserker.]
oathshackledbird: Nod (Nod)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2014-09-12 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Diarmuid nods and then closes his locket, sensing that the conversation has come to an end. It is obvious the magus is hiding information and perhaps later Diarmuid will have more time to dig into why, but for now there are other things he needs to find out about and think about.

It is best he get started.]
