GIMLIIIIIIIIII

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ Master Dwarf, be prepared to be barrelled over by a slightly-taller, very excited hobbit. With hairy feet and curly head and all. Someone is excited to see you. ]

Gimli! I had hoped to find a friend in this place.

[ Which is where, exactly? No matter, Meriadoc will consider that, later. ]
gloinul: (Proud)

MERRY YES GOOD

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Gimli "oofs" and then laughs as he realizes it's Merry.]

Master Merry! Well, I did not expect to see a Hobbit here!
bemerry: (Default)

IDK IF I'LL BRING HIM OR NOT BUT I COULDN't RESIST A GIMLI

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
We seem to be as scarce here as we are elsewhere abroad, though I have heard there are indeed dwarvish kin in the mountains.

[ He laughs as well, and tugs lightly on Gimli's shoulder. It's lunchtime, and that means time for more food. ]

There was quite the feast last night, but I think we might find some more food about here.

[ Also he wants to have food before he starts having the Very Difficult Discussion of When Exactly did you come from. Yeah. That was a fun discussion with the Lady Galadriel last night. ]
gloinul: (Drinking!)

you should totally bring him every game needs a Hobbit or two

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Still laughing, Gimli follows. Dwarves eat as much as Hobbits, if not as often, and he is a little hungry]

Ah yes of course. The feast was several hours ago. You must be starving, young Hobbit.
bemerry: (we ride before)

it wouldn't be for a while, though, because rl hates me rn

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ Merry technically did actually eat not more than an hour ago, but he's not about to volunteer that information, and instead grants Gimli a beaming smile. ]

Indeed I am, Master Gimli! The kitchens are this way! [ Totally the first thing he checked, negl. All the better to snatch food from for morale picnics and such. ]

And how are you, interesting travels to this... place.... notwithstanding?
gloinul: (Proud)

/kicks RL

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh well enough, well enough. Tell me, what were you doing before arriving here?
bemerry: (there is a bed)

its just so busyyyyyy

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh darn, and here he was hoping to be able to delay this conversation. He slows his walking, a bit, and his voice grows more solemn. ]

I was on my way home back to Buckland, after seeing Frodo and Bilbo off to the Grey Havens, where they would sail with the other 'ring bearers'. At the end.

[ He's a little quiet, not entirely sure what more he should say about it. ]

And you, Master Gimli?
gloinul: (Let Me Explain This To You)

all the more reason to kick it

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
A few years after that myself, I'm not sure how many. I have been busy with the Glittering Caves, Gondor, and whatever it is Legolas is doing.
bemerry: (our journey done)

hahahah thanks, then

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good!

[ YES! More people from the Fourth Age, and the end and all the happy things that come after. Good. Good. Merry has just gotten a whole lot brighter, that particular concern suddenly gone. Someone who knows. ]

Then I was due you a visit anyways, and now would be as fine a time as any!
gloinul: (Proud)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, though it's a shame we are not in your Shire! I was told that the next time I saw you I was to bring home pipeweed. Alas that I cannot!
bemerry: (Default)

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Then you will just have to join me when we get back, and you can send the pipeweed by post, once you head back towards Gondor. We'll be able to give you a proper Hobbit welcome, with the proper amounts of pipeweed, food, and ale!

I don't think it should take very long to find some new patch of flowers to head home with, if we must.
gloinul: (Drinking!)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I have tried several patches since my arrival and so far it as proven fruitless. Then again, perhaps a Hobbit can better tell enchanted flower patches from regular ones!
bemerry: (the fire is red)

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't been looking much, yet, but no flowers I've seen so far look like they'd work. Perhaps we shall have to ask the little fairies themselves to help us find the proper patch?
gloinul: (Seriously Legolas?!)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-12 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, those things? Those things...

Gimli clears his throat, a little uncomfortable]

They do not seem to like me. I crush their flowers too easily, I believe.
bemerry: (our journey done)

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-13 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ Merry has been cheerful all this time, but now he throws his head back and laughs, and his body shakes as he grips his sides. ]

Th-then I shall have to show you how to step lighter, Master Dwarf.

[ Have a beaming grin. ]

I am sure they might forgive you if you apologize nicely.

gloinul: (Proud)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-13 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Gimli chuckles, cuffing the young Hobbit on the back of his head]

I will not apologize for something I could not help! But if you can teach a Dwarf to walk like a Hobbit, I will ever be in your debt.
bemerry: (Default)

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-13 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I shall try, Gimli! But I fear booted feet will never do as well as a good set of hobbit feet with their toes.

[ Hobbits are near-silent, when they wish to be. Easily disappeared, with soft feet and softer noises. Dwarves are... much louder, bigger. ]

But we can at least keep you from crushing the flowers!

gloinul: (Drinking!)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-13 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[They're plenty quiet! Quieter than Men, at any rate.]

Bah, boots are practical. Your Hobbit feet are quiet, true, but I cannot imagine walking across mountains and snow without boots.

[It's fun to talk with the Hobbits. They're much more cheerful than the others, and even Gimli needs a laugh every so often.]
bemerry: (we ride before)

[personal profile] bemerry 2014-09-13 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Boots feel strange. [ Meriadoc says primly. He has worn boots before, there are not a few hobbits in Buckland that prefer to do so, but he's never muched liked it. ] But I suppose they have their uses.

Snow is not so bad until it starts to get lost in the fuzzy warm hair on top, and mountains can be a bit pointy, but they aren't all that much worse than stomping over prickly twigs or tree-roots. Both can be a little much. I'd not like to try crossing Caradhras again. [ Merry shudders. No, that he will have to pass. Nothing pleasant, there. ]
gloinul: (Side-eying You So Hard)

[personal profile] gloinul 2014-09-13 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
There are few who would want to risk angering cruel Caradhras once in their life, let alone twice. I believe there was talk of finding a way around that did not take them through Moria, but I haven't heard much since those early talks. I have been away in Gondor with Legolas.
