[Her eyes are drawn to the wolf, fingers stroking lightly over his muzzle and surprised to feel something that was also the man. There was a tether between them that she could feel and a bit of her magic slipped from her fingers to play over it. Interesting. A man in a wolf's body, but the wolf was there as well. Curious, this pair.]

The customs of one are not the customs of another. Where I'm from, there are some tales of men kidnapping their wives. Though, that would be the humans that dabble in that. And humans are such strange creatures, aren't they?

[That last was directed at the wolf, her eyes meeting his as she gives him a smile.]

That's the wildlings, I'm not-- [Jon would protest further, but then she began to pet Ghost's muzzle and his big white tail starts really going, wagging back and forth and cracking Jon in the knees each time it sweeps past. He gives his direwolf a scandalized look after he has to shift out of the way. When he talks again, he addresses Ghost too:] Oh really. That's all it takes? [Granted, at this point that's pretty much all it would take for Jon, too...]

Wildings? I cannot say I've heard that before. What are these wildings like, then? Iron-bearing warriors that raze all that lies before them?

[That is what the name brought to mind, after all, and she pictured an army of Stefans, all with that greedy glint of moremoremore in their eye.

The wolf's response to her had her smiling, wings opening and spreading so she could crouch down to look him in his eye without bending them.]

You are quite the handsome fellow. And you've got quite a handsome friend. Two sides of the same coin, mm? Black and white, wolf and man. I find you very interesting.

More like bone and stone, and steel when they can steal it. [Jon's a poet and he didn't even know it!] Raiding, they call it. There's not so much razing as taking all they might be able to carry and making off with it. [Razing is more for the Ironborn, though thinking that puts him in mind of Theon Turncloak and Winterfell, so he moves quite along.

He watches distractedly as her wings fold out, huge and majestic, and very, very real - but at her words, he can feel his cheeks growing hot. He even forgets, for half a moment, to be concerned at the connection she'd guessed.]
You're being generous, my lady.
curser: (Dark - Look 4)

[personal profile] curser 2014-09-14 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a generous sort, so that's quite untrue.

[She leans in and gives the tip of the wolf's nose a kiss, watching with a smile as a pink tongue comes out to lick over the spot so the wolf can properly get her scent and taste.]

There's no kindness in pointing out the truth, Jon Snow. Merely what is and what isn't.

[With a last ruffle to his fur, she moves to stand, attention moving from the wolf to the man.]

How is it you have such a bond with him. Is this common where you're from?

[personal profile] baseborne 2014-09-15 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd never exactly denied it at the Wall, not outright, but he'd only been accused of it there instead of asked. He can't much tell whether it's Ghost or him that makes his stomach go all to flutters, and he thinks briefly of Stannis' warning: of beautiful women, and not trusting them. But oh, what does Stannis know, anyway?]

Not common, no. [It was something that the Wildlings could do, though, and just some cradle tale that Old Nan might tell to spook children in their beds in the North. Just another piece of Jon that painted him a traitor to the Watch, made him seem half a Wildling himself to his men, so he'd always tried to pretend it wasn't there. He'd no more acknowledged it than denied it, scarcely in his own head and certainly not aloud. But then it'd saved his father's life (if not his ear), and his little sister's life, and Gendry's too, so he'd stopped fighting it so much. He'd still not said a word to anyone but the fairies he'd asked for his boon, though.] Some men, though-- skinchangers, they're called... wargs, when it's a wolf. [He halts, almost unsure of how to go on.]

Skinchangers...

[She mulled that word over, taking in all the connotations of it and seeing the hidden meaning behind it. One who changes his skin for another's. Quaint.]

And you are like this with this wolf? A... warg?

[Another new word, but if there was a bond between man and wolf where he came from, it ought to have a sort of name.]

And you were fortunate to find yourself here with your other half, yes?
baseborne: (JS6042544)

[personal profile] baseborne 2014-09-16 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
[There's an obvious slope of self-depreciation in the shrug he gives then.]

Aye, but a poor one. Men are meant to do it better than I do - to have more control, or... Well I don't know how, really.

[His fingers still skim through the fur along Ghost's spine. He'd asked to be a better one, but the fairies seemed to have misunderstood, and now he all he could do was warg poorly with the small pack of direwolves that Ghost had gathered up while away.]

I suppose I am. I'd have found it strange not to be.
curser: (Dark - Pleased 1)

[personal profile] curser 2014-09-16 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Were you taught? Is this something one must have training for?

[He hadn't for her magics, but then, she was a creature of pure magic and it was completely different. Men and their kind seemed to need to be taught to do all of the basics. Including walking.]

Keep him safe. It's when we're split apart that we are at our most vulnerable.
baseborne: (JS5009095)

[personal profile] baseborne 2014-09-16 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, but I've not had teaching. It's not something any maester would know, exactly. It's not something I'd tell tales of, either.

[Melisandre had offered to show him how, but Melisandre is not the sort of person that Jon had wanted to be indebted to in such a way.]

Oh, he goes and does as he pleases. I could no more keep him at my side when he doesn't want to be than I could keep the moon from rising.
curser: (Dark - Smile 1)

[personal profile] curser 2014-09-16 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Then how are you to get better? A boy must first walk before he runs, isn't that so?

[She laughed at that, clapping her hands as she did.]

Yes, the moon is quite set on that. Is he so very headstrong? I've a... companion that's similar, though there's not the bond there is between the both of you.
baseborne: (JS2020964)

[personal profile] baseborne 2014-09-16 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a boy, I'm a man grown. [Sorry, that's a reflexive response. He literally couldn't not.] Though I don't know of any wargs here. I've asked the fairies, but... [He frowns and then shrugs. In truth, after Reynard the Fox, he would never have trusted anyone they sent him to to learn, anyhow. Jon Snow might not know much, but he knows not to tempt fate by sticking his hand into the same fire twice.]

That and more, I'd say. [He ignores the insulted look Ghost throws him then.] ... How could you tell, my lady? [Tormund once said Jon had a wolfish cast to him, but Tormund said a lot of things.]
curser: (Smile - 3)

[personal profile] curser 2014-09-16 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes. A man. I can see that.

[She could see a lot of things, could Maleficent. Like the bond and the wary cast to Jon's eyes. She had that same look herself and knew it well.

Ghost, let her introduce you to Diaval.]

It's easy for one of magic to see magic. You, my dear, have a tether to the wolf as he has to you. Quite visible, for my kind.
baseborne: (JS6004625)

[personal profile] baseborne 2014-09-16 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Jon hesitates, glancing down.] Might be those that called me here could see it too, then. [Yes, Ghost would love to meet Diaval - he's quite peckish, at the moment.]
curser: (Look - 2)

[personal profile] curser 2014-09-16 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Ha ha, peckish. She sees what you did thar.]

Possibly. They're fair folk as well, though they're quite... different than what I'm used to.
