[ All the best fictional men go to Oxford, Waver. Get with the program. ]

Yes, as it was made clear to me it was quite a long time ago. 200 years does tend to flash by quickly.
gordianknots: But my inner Cinderella calls (Your hypothesis have been confirmed)

[Well sorry Oxford doesn't have a course for magic!]

--I'm sorry, run that by me again?

[ I'm sure the Clock Tower is a good number 2 choice. ]

[ He really shouldn't be enjoying this so much. Lieutenant Mills would surely disapprove. ] I was saying that 200 years does tend to fly by rather quickly. I suppose that may have something to do with not being conscious for it.
gordianknots: I'll take it as it comes (You can take your lamb of God)

[At least Oxford doesn't have Kayneth.]

[Also, probably, but Ichabod you're usually on the receiving end of this, aren't you?]

Oh, that sounds like a different and fun type of bullshit magic that differs from the sort that abounds here. Do you object to going into details?

[ That's a definite point for Oxford. ]

[ He couldn't resist having the advantage on sass for even a short time. He's so deprived, you know. ]

My wife would be the one who would know all the details, and as such I would ask you not to refer to her skills with obscenities. [ Rude, very rude. ] The shortened version of the story is that I was killed by the Horseman of Death, though I managed to bring him low at the same time. Our bloodlines became connected by this act and when he was revived by darker powers I was brought back into the world as well.
gordianknots: Sing your society song - it never changes (We all love the Smiths and dig the Clash)

Apologies for the language, I'll keep that in check.

[He's more cynical about the magic here than back home, promise.]

That is...an incredibly concise explanation and those are some very impressive skills. It also explains your familiarity with smartphones, I was very concerned about how those might have gotten to your original time period for a moment.

what's that sound? INCOHERENT SCREAMING AT S2E1

If we had possessed the... cellular phone technology back during the war then we would have had independence from the crown in a fraction of the time.

As it is, instead I must deal with the trials of auto correction and attempts to understand why the small angry spherical birds are so popular as to require several games.
gordianknots: I'll take it as it comes (You can take your lamb of God)

I WAS AND REMAIN SO GODDAMN DELIGHTED. SHOW, BRAVO.

[personal profile] gordianknots 2014-09-24 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps, although the conflict might have simply taken on a different dimension of difficulty and lasted about the same amount of time. I'm assuming, naturally, that both sides in this hypothetical have the same technological access.

Auto-correct is at least meant in good faith. Angry Birds is just a thing where you need something to do while waiting for a train or in a doctor's office, and you're not quite game for something that requires more brain power. Laziness happens to everyone.

If one could maintain a technological advantage of such extremes and keep it a secret then either side would have attempted it. The ability to communicate orders and rallying points in battle would have changed the course of everything.

Just imagine: you send a mass text saying that the regulars were coming and everyone moves to take action. No need for a network of men to ride the countryside to spread word.

True enough, and there's enough proof of that fact in the present era. Although if we're speaking in hypotheticals - and because this is a ridiculously entertaining thought exercise - if this advantage enabled England to retain control of the States, it would have been only for a while. The break down of the empire means that eventually there would have been independence.
