No idea. They may need assists, or from what I've gathered, they've been struggling with bringing people in for a while. While things at working, why not sure up one's numbers could be their logic.

Part of me wants to argue that it's stupid to kill your own side and to be a monarchy without people to rule, but that's entirely plausible and I wouldn't be surprised.

If even half of the motivation you've ascribed to them is true, they are probably less concerned with ruling and more concerned with whatever objective it is they seek.

Mmm. And even if you're not one hundred percent correct, what you're describing isn't a bad or illogical assumption to work under.

Then the long and short of it is to feign loyalty to this cause while doing as little to aid it as possible, until such time as we're able to ascertain more information.

I've been doing the former and unfortunately the latter. But I have figured out a better way to get information, and get in touch with people who share similar sentiments.

Well, the first step towards something like that, more or less. I acquired property that's on roughly neutral territory, and am building on it.

A base where people can speak freely. I've been buying all the literature I can to put in there, since it'll serve as a public space.

I'm glad it seems like that. I've been unsure of things so far since the situation here is so different from Clock Tower.

What is it like now? Do you have all the respect you always wanted?

It's still crawling with assholes who are caught up in class and the power of generations, and perpetuating the same ignorance that made me angry when we first met. I'm horrified that I wanted the respect of the people there in the first place.

I suspected that might be the case when we first met. Seeking the approval of others above all else rarely turns out well.

But you have certainly grown past all that. Are you unhappy there?

It's... [Waver pauses. Phrasing it is has always been odd. Doubly so to the person that got him over so much of his anger and misplaced ambition too.]

I get to do research, I get to slowly nudge people away from narrowminded thinking, and I get to be more clever than everyone else. I can go from hating it one day to being in my element the next.

Then you are saying that even though you dislike your surroundings, your work is fulfilling for you.

Because I can slowly make way into <I<changing</I> those surroundings. Fighting to be in a position where that's possible's been rewarding. Stressful, but rewarding.
