[ In between giggles and other little sounds of laughter, he extends a hand from the cosy nest of robes. Clawing at nothing in particular, but pretending he's suffocating...!!! Totally unable to uncover himself to wheeze in a breath! And from beneath the robe he makes all the sounds to match too. ]

[ Finally though, with great effort, he succeeds in pulling his face from beneath the horribly heavy fabric. His hair fluffed up, puff up and strands of it stand up straight, before flopping against his forehead. ]

Terrible fate, to be suffocated by my own father! More terrible than the incessant assault of the amber lamps!

[ No matter how well Thranduil hides it, there are certain ways in which Legolas can and does read it. Or feel it, or simply senses it. Though he still tips his head back, his own grin a wide and bright thing as he looks a little sideways, a little upside down at Thranduil's face. ]

To feel younger yourself?

[ There is a sharp edge now to that grin. ]

How did you manage to make any friends in the Fellowship, I wonder? And how did Mithrandir not kick you off Caradhras when he had the chance?

[ And all of five seconds of flailing in turn, on Legolas's part. Until he comes for air like an elf drowning. A deep wheeze, eyes wide. Flaxen hair rising like puffy feathers, and settling into a great mess. Little now is left of the original, quite intricate, braid that he started out with. ]

How else but through charm and bright humour? [ And fear, and blood, and suffering, but most of all loyalty and goodness of the heart. Yet he still keeps the subject light. He flops back, a boneless weight against Thranduil's chest. A swoon, if you will, of one terribly wounded in the very heart. ] Father, oh father, do you truly think me so unpleasant a company?
