[ Legolas curbs a little his penchant for flair and theatrics, noting the ease with which she startles at his gestures. No need to frighten her, after all, and ever it comes easy to be simply gentle, elegant and subdued, so long as he gets to grin still. Which he does, warm and comforting, lacking haughtiness many elves are known for.

The lack of verbal response bothers him none, it seems, and he simply continues. ]

Was the conversation of interest to you? I fear it will move to politics soon and lose all the charm in that very moment!

[ Nill relaxes, smile growing a bit. She nods at his question and then gives a small shrug for his second comment. Everything that's happening is a little over her head (war? faeries?) but she's curious so it all seems interesting and strange. But since there's lots that she doesn't know, even back home, she likes listening and learning what she can. Unfortunately she can't exactly hold conversation with this person, and she doesn't have anything to write on (at least as far as she knows; she doesn't really understand the locket yet) so all she can do is stand there and hope he speaks again. ]

[ His father would say that Legolas simply likes the sound of his own voice, to tease him for all the chatter he does, and Legolas does quite enjoy talking! Conversing! Whether it be other folk or trees or beasts, in truth. Little encouragement he needs to continue, really. It's curious that she merely nods or shrugs. Perhaps it's shyness? Or perhaps it is fright. How could anyone blame her truly (though he knows better than to allow appearances deceive, yet he senses no ill will from her, none whatsoever), to be thrust into a world of war, entirely foreign, with a great many creatures and wonders even stranger and more unfamiliar.

With a slow gesture Legolas beckons her towards the tables laid out with various treats and foods. ]

Politics of Drabwurld I have found to be terribly convoluted, two courts surrounded by allies and enemies, ever fluid all of those, changing allegiances to who they see fit at any given moment. Few neutral parties there are, but for us, shardbearers... neutrality is not an option at all.

[ A beat and he chuckles, noticing two things: how his little speech goes into subjects perhaps a little too heavy for the very first conversation, and two: how he had not yet even introduced himself. ]

Time and again my manners leave plenty to be desired, [ He gives a small bow, yet even in its scantness, it's ever so playfully exaggerated. ] I am Legolas, son of Thranduil the Elvenking.

[ Honestly, most of what he says goes straight over her head because she missed most of the starting information in her initial panic, so she simply looks at him while he talks, trying to absorb and understand what he's saying. When Legolas introduces himself she gets a bit flustered again, looking around for something to write on, and then perks up as an idea comes to her. Nill quickly takes a plate and puts a bit of food on it, arranging it to spell out her name, and shows it to him as her own introduction, clearly proud of her clever way of finding a way to express herself. ]
