[honestly he is 99% closer to punching junpei in the face for being an idiot.]

[ long awkward pause. ]

Uh. Senpai, aren't you supposed to be... you know... [ vaguely gestures at all of shinji... ]

[heavyaxe]

What, dead?

[he shrugs, peering down at the bullet hole in his coat. he isn't too keen on the subject, so he moves on.]

Yeah. Wasn't too sure I was even alive until I heard other people were going through the same thing. Turns out this has been going on for months, almost a year. Nobody knows what the Dark Hour is.

[slugout]

[ OH... you... didn't have to confirm it so bluntly, senpai.... ]

Wow, you're almost as good as Yuka-tan at the whole detective thing — have you been awake for the Dark Hour? We keep trying to stay up and then see it but... nothing happens...

[heavyaxe]

No. I was looking on the locket to see if anyone brought it up, but no one has.

[trust him. he went really far back. it had been a major waste of time, but at least he was doing something productive.

[ someone said her name? someone said her name.

yukari comes running up behind shinji, not really paying attention to the towering hobo until she comes to a stop right beside him. ]

Junpei, you'll never guess—...

[slugout]

Yeah! She's... getting supplies or something. She came out here because the castle seriously creeps her out and she didn't want me leaving her by herself!

[ and then with a dirty look at junpei, she takes a look to whom he is addressing and

feels the bottom drop out of her stomach.

quickly she darts back, feeling her body warm in fear as her heart kickstarts and pounds between her ears. ]

N... No way.

i laughed but i'm actually very sad at everything rn

[heavyaxe]

[shinjiro shifts himself to take a better look at yukari, and honestly, he's a little surprised by how fast her features change. junpei made things easy, but yukari-- he doesn't want her to get upset. he feels guilty for even standing next to her.

he isn't sure what to say. "i'm not dead" would be a...start, but he's not too sure that's gonna cover everything. maybe if he just waits it out the moment will pass and she'll either a) as a bunch of questions or b) cry.

preferably a. he's never seen yukari cry. he doesn't want to change that.]

[slugout]

Way. Hes not an impostor, don't worry, we already handled that part.

[ unhelpfully pats yukari's arm... maybe having done the whole "dying" thing himself, junpei's more prepared to just sort of roll with the whole zombie senpai thing? ]

Think of it with Senpai basically bein' just like me.

[ (annoying?) he probably isn't helping this situation.... ]

[snipers]

[ cry? no. yukari's got a better control over her emotions than that — comes with the territory of living for years without letting anyone see anything other than the cheerful girl she always wants to project. even though her hands are crossed over her mouth, yukari doesn't let out a yelp, or any sort of surprised sound at all.

but she does seem to have a moment to struggle breathing. ]

...Senpai?

[ her hands slowly fall away (though one lifts to push junpei away because seriously you are not helping) from her mouth and she takes another step closer to shinjiro. even though she wasn't that close to him, yukari knows she should be happy to see someone else from iwatodai. in spite of this, however, yukari can only feel this gnawing sensation at the back of her mind that says "this is wrong."

is this the kind of power this war has over everything? space? time? life and death — do they mean nothing here?

she swallows hard and lets her hands grasp the hem of her skirt for a moment, trying to calm the nervous trembling in her fingers. and then... she smiles. it's a little sad but it's still a smile; genuine. ]

It's good to see you again.

[heavyaxe]

[girls and tears, man. he is seriously never prepared for what may happen. but what happens next is...nice, even if he'd never admit it. in fact, he even smiles back. it's small and barely even there, but it's a smile.]

...Glad to see you're doing well.

[okay that's enough of that. he wants -- needs -- to move on. there's no point in dwelling on the past.

he turns to junpei again, looking at him rather pointedly, even if he's still addressing yukari.]

We were just exchanging what we know about this place.

[does junpei know anything else besides how to talk about how much a damsel yukari is? let's find out.]

[ awww, senpai is... smiling.... kinda..... and it doesn't look scary intimidating.... maybe this place isn't so bad after all? (maybe, if the rules they're learning at home aren't really counting — choices were made, and he knows he should respect them, but... still....)

hahaha. haha. let's make a joke? lighten the mood? ]

You've got a competitor in your detective business, Yuka-tan.

[snipers]

[ she really wants to ignore junpei, so instead of responding to him, yukari just rolls her eyes and turns her attention back to senpai, glad that he's at least returning her smile. ]

What have you found so far?

[ of course yukari's been looking around too, and she's found a lot of info! but it's best to not go over basic information twice if everyone already knows. ]

Alright. You know the Dark Hour doesn't exist here. I don't know much-- I haven't spoken to a lot of people. But I heard about something. Strange things happen once a month, like back at home. I don't know if the moon has anything to do with it, but I listened to a few people talk about the moon disappearing once.

[he pauses, letting that sink in, then continues:] Oh, and it seems like death really exists here. As a being. It's a big dog called Black Shuck.

[he went way back in his locket to get a grasp on what happens in the drabwurld. he's pretty dead-set on finding out everything about this place.]

What've you two got?

[slugout]

[ ... glances at yukari. ]

... I found a girl who says she's a granny even though she's twelve, and a princess who can make fire from nothing without a Persona.

[ she's not sure what she was expecting, honestly. with a much put-upon S I G H, yukari turns away from junpei and focuses her attention on shinji, hands resting behind her back. ]

This place is so far the only area I know if where modern technology works, and it extends outside the station, too. [ yukari walked for quite a ways while she fooled around on her cellphone, seeing how long it lasted before it shut down. ] The computers here access some kind of intranet, and I was able to access some websites from home but something doesn't really feel right about all of it, ya know? I sent Mitsuru-senpai an email but who knows if she'll even get it.

[ she hesitates, glancing over her shoulder just in case any of the mingling crowd happens to be eavesdropping. ]

... I haven't tried to summon my Persona, but I was able to heal a cut I got while I was checking my arrows, so I know Isis is still with me. [ her eyes linger on shinjiro for a few moments before finally acknowledging junpei again. ] And I'm sure you both know about the war, right?

[heavyaxe]

[hold up. junpei honestly catches his attention with that information-]

That girl ain't twelve. She's somethin' else. [a beat,] Know anything else about the princess? What is she?

[and hold up- why is junpei talking about personas so easily in public? man. he can tell yukari's a little uncomfortable about it, too. still, he keeps quiet and listens. he doesn't want to talk about castor, doesn't want to face the facts just yet. he's running low.]

Mitsuru isn't getting your email, no matter how many you send. We're in another world. [and about the war:] Yeah. Been going on for a long time, too, from what I've heard.

[slugout]

[ at first he'd thought this was another part of tartarus, and he was still in the dark hour or something — caer scima matched the aesthetic, you know? and asking around if people knew about apathy syndrome seemed like a good idea.

and it's not like this place isn't WEIRD enough for personas? there was a talking lizard selling "bor-ee-tos" at the food court? YEAH. totally weird. ]

Firelord-to-be. She's a fire-bender.

[snipers]

[ no, you know what, not worth it, and yukari shakes her head. ]

Ugh, nevermind. [ back to senpai! ] And yeah, I thought it was something like that, it was just weird that I could still access pages normally.

[ looking toward one of the outer walls of the station, yukari nods her head toward it. ]

Apparently that didn't happen in a battle. ...A giant Shadow almost destroyed this place.

[heavyaxe]

[yeah, shinjiro's not going to get too into it right now. he can ask around later. for now, he stares blatantly at junpei, hoping it'll squeeze some more information out of him. seriously, be more specific! a fire-bender to them is a persona user to ...whoever that chick is.

he looks incredibly surprised. he hadn't thought they'd run into shadows here.]

What?

[EXPLAIN.]

[slugout]

[ yes, yukatan, please elaborate so senpai stops staring at him like that. ]

[snipers]

[ well, obviously someone didn't go back that far, or ask the fairies what happened. yukari lifts her eyebrows, glancing between the boys and then, well... ]

I asked around about what happened to this place, and the fairies told me that someone in the Unseelie court can shift into a shadow creature, and one month the shadows went berserk and her with it. [ she nods toward one of the ruined walls. ] She attacked pretty much everywhere: Caer Scima, Caer Glaem, and here. [ and now yukari pulls out her locket and flips through all the entries she made special note of. ] The girl admitted to it on the network and was thrown in the dungeon in Caer Glaem for a while.
