I would offer a welcome to one I have not set eyes on in almost three thousand years. Be forewarned, your deeds are not forgiven, nor are they forgotten. Yet - this is a strange place and I deem the will of Illuvatar is not often understood by his children.

I would not want them to be. [ Maglor shrugs sadly ] Let us stand as a warning to others. And forgiveness would suggest that I deserve it.

I threw it away... yes. I was not... entirely in my right mind, you understand. But with Maedhros gone... [ a quiet helpless shrug ] It was meant to go to the sea, I think. I would have followed it, but I was stolen here instead.

[ He glances up at the stars, thinking. ]

[ a quiet sad smile ] And who is there that would forgive a Kinslayer?

[ he nods, dropping his head to fiddle with his hands ]

[ One corner of his mouth lifts, though Maglor may not see it. ]

[ He blinks back, startled, and a smile quirks his own lip in turn ]

Ah now. It is true that would take some overcoming.

[ soberly ] But from what I have seen the Kings and Queens have power equal to any of the Valar, and there are four of them here, two to each side.

[ But the laughter fades from his eyes with new information. ]

Four of them, in likeness to the Valar? I did not realize ... and how do they govern? No, do not answer that. We have opposition, one side against the other.

Nor I. Tis an ill business, and the worst of it is the latest news to emerge - the Queens are sisters. Dark and Light in opposition, or, as they would argue, Chaos and Order - which is the more accurate, I suspect, although they style themselves along Dark and Light lines.

[ An angry frustrated huff ] I did not swear my father's oath and see its bitter fulfillment only to be drawn into yet another family feud that has gone too far!
