....I thought I hit post on this ages ago
Well met, Edgar - Maglor, I am. I would bid you welcome but tis a poor one, I fear, drawn from our own worlds to peril and grief in this one. You must be new, I think - I do not think I have seen you before, and the Feasts are on again.
Fairies, man. They mess with you.
I am. But I don't understand why I keep being pulled from my home like this. I only just got back again and now I'm here. Solais and Morla... It's just like Genesta and Lolotte all over again. I suppose this is what they mean by these things happening in threes. My mind and body don't seem to have been changed this time, but...
[A long sigh.]
...my parents will be so sad and worried about me...
/shakes fist at fairies
I am sorry. [ He drops his eyes ] It is hard, to be sundered from family. And to be sundered repeatedly...
Fairy babes just can't keep their hands off this boy.
I barely know my parents. I was just a baby the first time it happened, and they didn't find me until I was grown. They were going to have a ball in honor of my homecoming, everyone there to welcome back their long-lost prince, but the night of the party, I went into the gardens, and... Well, the exact details are fuzzy, but my mother's sister took me and enslaved my mind so I would help her with her plot.

That is a cruel tale indeed. Your kinfolk sound ... well. [ a huff ]
I would say you are safe here, but there is no safety in a war, particularly not one where the rulers are so intent on continuing but... [ Maglor reaches a tentative hand to brush across Edgar's briefly ]
At the least, you are free of your enthrallment now.

[He looks a little confused by the touch. Strangers don't usually touch him. But he doesn't pull away.]
I've never been part of a war before. But, someone wanting to destroy things... that I've dealt with before. More than I wish I could say.

War is never a pleasant thing, even if sometimes it is necessary. The problem in this fight is knowing who tells the truth, for I suspect both courts lie. I hope you find a measure of peace here, Master Edgar - but they will seek to use you, on both sides. At the least, this time it will be your choice.

I... don't know them well enough to say but... It's probably less a matter of knowing what is truth and what is not, and being able to see how the truth has been shaped. Sometimes, it is twisted and diminished... Sometimes, it is made too beautiful to be the way it should. [He's looking at his hands as he says this, almost examining them.]

Feels foul and looks fair hm? [ Maglor tips his head, watching the young man thoughtfully ] You speak wisely, and, I think, that wisdom came hard won.
[ He looks up at the castle and sighs softly ]
But a truth wrapped in a lie is still a lie. [ he says softly, and there is something dark in his eyes ]

They won't see it that way, though.
[He doesn't comment on the hard-won wisdom.]

Too many, it seems, prefer to accept the lie, if it keeps them happy and content.
