[Tink jumps in surprise. Her flight reflex kicks in--quite literally--and she hovers just above the surface of the table, ready to bolt should the need arise. It's not often the fairies of Pixie Hollow allow themselves to be seen by humans, and adults even less so than children. It goes against all her instincts to know that she's been spotted and to not fly away, but somehow she gets the feeling that there's going to be a lot more of this in her immediate future. Especially if she ever wants to make it home again.

She turns toward the voice and her eyes widen as she cranes her neck to get a better look at the speaker.

Cat? Cat! Enormous cat!

...talking cat.

Ooookay, that's new.

The surprise and alarm on her tiny face give way to confusion and, of course, curiosity.]

I... yes, I think I am lost, actually. I should probably...

[Alas, to non-fairies the words sound like the tinkling of a small bell.]

[ His hearing is sensitive, but not quite that sensitive, so yes, the tinkling is all he hears. Still, it's enough to make him lift his brows in surprise. ]

How curious... You speak with the voice of a nirnroot, little one.

[ Not exactly, but the sound is close enough in his ears. At any rate, though he can't understand her in exact words, the look on her face speaks plainly enough. ]

If you have come from Caer Glaem — and this one cannot imagine why — you would do best to return there as quickly as possible, before you are noticed. If, however, you are like Khajiit — Shardbearers, they call us — and this world is not your home... Well, Khajiit supposes the scamps would have to treat you with some courtesy then.

[The look on the (cat?)'s--Khajiit's?--face is enough to tell Tink that the people here are just like the ones back home. No one's going to understand a word she says. She huffs a small sigh--time to get used to charades again.

At the word "Shardbearers" she perks up, nodding vigorously and pointing to herself. She's certainly heard that word before, in the long strange tumble of events that brought her here. What it all means is something that she's still trying to sort out.

--wait, the locket!

Tink holds up a single finger, a just-one-second, and pulls the locket from around her neck. She holds it aloft, pointing from the locket itself to (Khajiit?) and back to herself. Maybe this might help?]
