[ two can play at that game. crossing his arms against his chest, fists balled at his sides, zuko's prepared to ignore toph until she deems this not an incredibly vivid dream. he's pinched himself enough to have bruises lining his arms. sometimes, he wishes this was a dream, but zuko never gets what he asks for without stumbling and making a fool of himself. ]

[ he lasts a good two minutes before he looks at her. ]

Are you going to eat something?

[metalbends]

and toph isn't about to give into the smell of warm food so easily. of course, that's when her stomach grumbles. for a dream, she's pretty dang hungry.

...urgh. ]

It smells funny.

Like Earth Kingdom food, so it should be normal for you.

[ he's not even trying to be immature — he just wishes to ease her nerves and get her to eat as she's already short enough. the food here isn't hot enough for zuko. it's almost like mud, sometimes — earth kingdom food tastes like that, but nothing as horrible as uncle's attempts at mud pies. ]

The tarts are nice.

[metalbends]

[ she huffs, blowing a few strands of hair lying across her face. she doesn't want to sit and eat. it seems like admitting defeat to her, somehow. ]

Steak? [ she will take a big hunk of meat right now. sokka would be proud. ]

Somewhere. [ the pout is evident in his voice. ] This place has everything but fire flakes.

[ it's an absent-minded gesture to reach out and grasp her wrist to guide her to where he had last seen the steak that's the butt of all of sokka's very unfunny jokes. ]
