His grandson. Grandson means children, and that makes Erik's fingers twitch and metal slam into the ground, violently. He can't imagine having a child, having a small creature, the idea of having something so fragile belonging to him -- and, of course, a child requires a mother and that makes Erik's lips twist into a thin, sour line. No, he refuses to accept it, and his eyes narrow as he looks at the boy again. Either he is lying or he knows exactly what buttons to push -- and neither of those options sit well on his shoulders. ]
I do not have any children. I do not have a grandchild.
[ He leans forward. ]
You are mistaken.

He's not rude enough or foolish enough to assume that the Magneto is front of him will live the same life or feel the same things. There are a million realities out there and a million reasons why he might not have children or go on a different path. ]
-- Okay. I believe you. But I'm not lying, I swear.
[He says it gently. He has no idea how Billy would handle this. Probably about as well as Teddy is. ]
I don't know if that'll be your future or if you're from a whole different universe.
[Sort of. Now is probably not the time to start explaining complicated reality warping magic and Billy's two moms. ]
But Billy is, you know, where I'm from. He's a mutant, like you. He and his brother pretty much have the same powers as their mom and uncle.
[which is pretty weird, and now really isn't the time to be thinking about the Freudian implications of that while talking to Wanda's dad.]

But they're mutants.
Erik knows what he fights for; he fights for peace for his kind, for freedom and protection from the touch of humanity. He knows he would never have children if he thought the world would be unsafe for them, so he cannot believe that he would have any at any point soon. This means this boy, this child that knows his grandchildren, must be from a time in his future. It's the only thing that makes sense and it's something to focus on other than the agonising pull of the idea of there being enough sanctuary in the world for him to ever dare having a child of his own, let alone two. ]
Billy.
[ That must be the boy's name. Inconspicuous and as innocent as 'Erik', he supposes. He leans down, looking Teddy right in the eye. ]
And his mother's name? His uncle and his brother?
no subject
Tommy.
[Tommy who talks at 600mph, Tommy who honestly looks exactly like Magneto. ]
That's Billy's brother. He's got the power to go really fast.
no subject
Peter Maximoff. He had thought it a ridiculous comment at first, just some awful attempt to get him to talk, and here he stands possibly proven wrong. ]
What is his uncle's name?
no subject
Pietro. His names Pietro, more often he goes by Quicksilver.
no subject
Not that he knew how young Peter had been, exactly, but there are some things he can ignore. He could be a little more cruel, push for more information, but he's content. ]
Fine.
[ Because he doesn't know anyone named Pietro. He's fine. ]
no subject
He and Wanda are -- unique.
[He means co-dependant and a little weird. Maybe it's genetic???]
Wow, okay so this was heavy stuff. Enough about the Maximoff's -- you are crazy young. I mean, whoa.
no subject
Maximoffs. Children that might be his, that have their own children. It makes him want to scream. Surely Charles would have known if Peter was Erik's? But, no, no, Charles didn't have his telepathy then -- it would make sense that he wouldn't be able to pluck Erik from the boy's mind. The offhand comment had to have been meaningless, however. It had to have been.
Eyes moving, he stares at Teddy. It's dark, hard. ]
Was I supposed to be older?
no subject
His palms are sweaty again. ]
A lot older. Don't get me wrong, you're pretty spritely for someone who's pushing his sixties?
[someone save him from lodging his foot in his mouth more please]
no subject
I am not sixty.
[ Does he look sixty, Teddy. Do you think he is sixty years old, really. He's offended. ]
no subject
[Wow someones touchy.]
This is so weird, I guess I always imagined you had grey hair your whole life like Pietro?
no subject
No. I was not.
[ Still, the idea of Pietro always being grey gives more to the theory that Peter and Pietro are one and the same. ]
Consider yourself educated.
no subject
[He leans forwards again, still wary but more curious. How do you politely ask someone if they're a villain in the past too????]
So.
[He glances upwards, to the side, back to Erik and then slowly morphs from big and green to buff and blond. This is your future in-law, Erik. Check out these guns.]
How long have you been here?
no subject
Months.
[ And then he's changing from the big and green to the slightly smaller and blond. Tilting his head, Erik raises a brow. ]
That is an interesting mutation.
