Not me, but I want to ask. Are you from Earth? And if you are, are "powers" where you come from secret or not secret?

Earth, yeah! Central City to be precise. Not that it matters if you're asking me if I'm from Earth. [ Oh right the second question. ] Sort of? Depends on the person and who they're talking to, I guess. Generally most people don't say that they have powers when introducing themselves.

Plus the whole situation's a little new.

Central City? Umm... not sure where that is. Though it sounds... central.

I'm from a small town north of Nagoya in Japan.

... I just meant whether the concept of people having "powers" was broadly accepted as real and not legendary, but from that answer it sounds like it's accepted as real where you come from. Are you from further in the future than 2012 or so?

Sort of.

[ Also known as no one knows, canon thanks for being nebulous about that. ]

You're the second Japanese person who I've talked to. Not in general, just here specifically. I wouldn't say it's accepted as real unless you know someone who has them. Seeing is believing, that sort of thing. [ Or if you have them yourself, you know. ] I'm about 2-ish years ahead of 2012 Nearly three, actually but the ball hasn't dropped for New Years.

Hmm, I see. I was wondering if I could tell whether "Earth"lings were from the same Earth or somehow different ones, but if powers aren't necessarily accepted as real unless you have personal experience... that sort of sounds inconclusive.

Have you tried asking them if they share the same landmarks or same basic timing of events?

It doesn't really help if you don't know the main landmarks but if someone says that— I don't know, Russia took over the world during the Cold War or something, you could tell that their Earth isn't really everyone else's.

Hmm, well, I'm not that well versed in world events, although I'm sure something like that would be a red flag.

... so to speak.

[ He shouldn't laugh but that was actually kind of funny. ]

You never know, they might come in with a red flag too. But subtle differences could just be not knowing world events that much. Things like that are pretty obvious.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well, what are some major world events that happened in 2012 or earlier, for you? Especially anything related to "powers", even behind the scenes.

A particle accelerator blew up in— were I live. That was— nearly a year ago? Maybe a year, I wasn't exactly all there for most of this past year so my sense of time is a little warped.

I'm not sure if I would have heard about that or not. Is it huge, like the Large Hadron Collider, or not that huge?
