So it's with his head down and mind busy planning half a dozen scenarios that he encounters another person in one of the hallways. He almost moves past her, intent on his own thoughts, when she speaks up.
And he stops instantly, head snapping up, his eyes widening in shock. His daughter. His precious, beautiful daughter. His legs respond to instinct before he can even get her name out, so Rivendell's most beloved jewel had better brace as her father strides forward to scoop her up in a tight hug. ]

She wants to answer 'no', tell him everything about this war and the consequences - how she'd been pulled to a different side. How strong the temptation was to abandon her shard so she couldn't possibly be used against her family or put them in dangerous positions.
Her skin still holds a hint of the chill, though it's quickly forgotten.]

Once she's sure they're safely behind doors, she sets down the bag before moving to embrace him again.]
I was brought here by the other court. I - [A beat.] The Queen was generous enough to grant me rooms here but with the war brewing, it's not safe.

And, really, holding his baby girl in his arms is just about the greatest thing ever. It's soothing and lets him concentrate on something else besides wringing the neck of whoever did the actual kidnapping. ]

Lord Thranduil has formed a mountainhome - away from the courts. [A mountainhome which both Aragorn and her mother had seen fit to arrange rooms for her in.]
There are native elven clans here, clans that have been devastated by the war. [One of which she'd agreed to go meet with, though now with her father here maybe she shouldn't.] They are in need of aid and shelter, refuge away from the fighting.
[A beat.] I am sorry you've been pulled into this. Nana and many of the others are here. [While she is grateful for the opportunity to see her mother again, this was not how she had imagined it.]
