Friday, friday, gotta get drunk on friday~

NEVER HAVE I EVER...

HOW TO PLAY:
in case the diagram is not enough
1. Everyone is at a big party. Courts? What courts? Forget about courts.
2. Post an IC comment with a subject that finishes the sentence "never have I ever".
3. If you see something your character has done, reply with them taking a shot! If they've done it many times, have them take many shots or down an entire bottle. Shots do not need to be alcohol, especially not for underage characters.
4. All characters must be honest. It's more fun that way. Don't look at me, the monarchs probably put some magic on the drinks.
5. Bother other people. Demand details. Don't wreck the house, please, and post warnings if things get 18+.

...what?

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2015-01-31 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Really now, Harry?
thebreakingwave: (02 » so i sez to the man)

Did you not see that intentionally is highlighted?

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2015-01-31 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
A part of me finds it hard to believe you were not aware of the potential consequences of your actions.

Back when she was a crow, I never thought I'd be raising a the spirit of someone gone. After that, it's all semantics and body shapes.

But, if you'd like, I'll still take a drink.

[ He's drinking non-alcoholic cider. ]

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2015-01-31 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Very well... I shall accept your words. No drink required.

Thank you, Saber.

And, this might not be my place to say, but I think we're friends. And I'd fight for you. It's not love, not the sort you need for the statement where you didn't drink, but I think that the longer we know each other, the easier it'll be for me to care for you as a good, stalwart sort of friend. And that's a sort of love.

[ HE HAS FEELS. AND OPINIONS ON THE MATTER. /capslock potter ]

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2015-01-31 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[She's unsure how to react to that. How does one friend?]

...I do not have much experience in friendship that was not impeded by titles and station. But do like the idea of friendship with you.
thebreakingwave: (02 » little grin)

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I was lucky. I didn't have any experience with it until I met two people that've become by best friends. They taught me everything and I'm pretty sure I can pass that along to you.
thebreakingwave: (02 » sweet)

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. Although, this might mean I have to teach you some terrible wizarding card games and then trounce you at them.

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2015-01-31 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Once I properly learn the rules, you will find me quite hard to best.

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
I can't wait.
noonedies: (how deep is too deep?)

[personal profile] noonedies 2015-01-31 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I find your phrasing sensationalist and inaccurate.

[But she drinks anyway because come on.]
thebreakingwave: (02 » teeth :D)

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
My phrasing is specific enough to annoy my friends and to prevent myself from having to take a drink. Isn't that the point of the game?
noonedies: (one of them's alright)

[personal profile] noonedies 2015-01-31 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I've never been totally sure.

Undead, though, that's for monster movies. Something is living or it's dead. It may not be human, but that's a different question.
thebreakingwave: (03 » ...not sure)

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome to the funny pictures?
noonedies: (all the smirking faces)

[personal profile] noonedies 2015-01-31 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[You get such a face at that, Harry.]

Even if something is returned to life by "magic," [audible air quotes, it's a skill] that doesn't change the criteria for determining whether an organism is alive or not.
thebreakingwave: (Default)

[personal profile] thebreakingwave 2015-01-31 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Assume I know nothing about science, which isn't far from the truth. What's the criteria?

[ ...not that he has a personal stake in this. ]

[personal profile] noonedies 2015-01-31 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[She brightens just a little.]

Ok, in fairness to you, the edges of that question are still the subject of some debate. But most scientists can agree on the basics. A living thing takes in energy from its environment, somehow, and can use that energy for growth and, at least on a species level, for reproduction in some form. And generally, living things are able to preserve a state of homeostasis in the face of entropy, at least within certain parameters. A living organism's body maintains and repairs its structure, within limits. Unliving organic matter decays back into its chemical building blocks with time and exposure.

Living things, at the risk of needlessly anthropomorphizing, want to keep being alive.

Two out of three isn't bad. Living it is, then.

[ ...Harry, no. ]
noonedies: (I ain't got no dollar signs in my eyes)

[personal profile] noonedies 2015-02-01 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There are borderline cases that are the focus of debate. Viruses, for one.

Wait, which one's not applicable?

[Now she's interested.]

Growth is the main one. Someone I know, they're what they'd call undead here and she eats, but she'll never age, never get sick. She can repair injury, but always back to the form she is now.
