Timeskip CR Meme

While similar to the CR meme in some ways, the fields within the text area below are meant to facilitate planning and plotting so that by the time the CR meme rolls around everyone has a much clearer idea of what all has been happening and in what direction they are heading, especially as the timeskip looms large on the horizon.

Should you need it, you can always refer to the re-posted Timeskip Calendar for ideas! Characters have already been starting up businesses (coffee shops, playhouses, a P.I. office, even a business selling non-locket network devices!) so be sure to check it out!

As a note, please remember the following:

• There will be no new shardbearers, no monthly events (and perforce no boons). Monarch contact will be limited to include shardbearers highly ranked within their court.


• Fairy rings will be inoperable. Powers, abilities, and boons may be used to allow for fast-travel. Otherwise, characters must hoof it to where they wish to go.


• Lockets will not work. Characters would need traditional means to keep in touch, or need to fashion (or purchase) their own alternative means of magical communication. These alternative devices can be used on the network alongside lockets, and can be fashioned to interact with lockets.


• Border violence will be the norm. Small incursions and raids into enemy territory will be frequent. Unseelie in Seelie territory, and vice versa, will be hunted by patrols/town guards/etc. NPC guards may unexpectedly drop into threads where characters are in enemy territory.


• Boons all perform to their original specifications. None are depowered or vanished, though all would show the signs of age as appropriate for the passage of time.


• Influence and quests would continue to be given and rewarded as normal (one quest per player per ooc month), for our OOC sanity. PCs who are able to give quests are encouraged to have an expanded docket of them at the ready.

The Barrel (located in southern Aghmhor) has a library that could cover some of those things and a couple of educated individuals who wouldn't mind filling in the blanks. Betweeen Waver (gordianknots) and Rin (this character), it might be a good opportunity to catch up on the history of the world. There's a log up for the entire duration of the time skip starting with the opening in March, so Jason is free to have heard about it from someone like Rin.

I really do like their intro thread (even if I've been a bit lagged), so you can assume she mentioned it casually there. She could also help him learn magic, provided he's willing to come to her, and create items called Mystic Codes to help him practice. Things like a glove to work on fire magic is something she's done already, but there can be more creative options if you like. She's an official court magus, so her name is known as a magic user.

Alternatively she could recommend him to the Magic Guild by Lemina :)

Jason might end up just taking on a whole lot of teachers (he does it in canon), and at least he won't kill these ones. If you don't mind him having learned from Rin, that's fine! I will definitely be throwing him into that log soon for information. As for gaining her as a teacher (if she wouldn't mind being one of a few!), he can maybe contact her sometime soon because of her official title?

Yes, that will be fine.

Right now she's away from The Barrel up until like after the first week of March due to a quest so anytime after that should be good. Otherwise they can meet up somewhere else.

Is there a specific thing he's looking for magic-wise from her?

I think it depends on her specialties, but one of his initial focuses will be finding a way to translate his bomb-making and ability to develop poisons in this world. I assume that will be either through creating magical objects that can be developed elsewhere or potions, if Rin can help with either of those! He also likes explosive/aggressive stuff. He will be straightforward about the translation of skills, just because minus the same technology, he's going to be fussed about losing a key part of his arsenal.

Sorry for the belated reply on this. I finally had a chance to get caught up and sort things out.

That would be great. While she can't help him entirely with the chemistry, she does have a few herbal supplies he can bum off of her for poisons. Plus she'll be growing a garden full of things so he's welcome to request more. Since she's involved in trade in more ways than one, she can rope supplies for him. Magic-wise, a lot of her explosive stuff has to do with her specialty which she's not too inclined to teach.

However what she might recommend is that he goes through the Magic Guild and learn how to make Flame Bombs with Lemina. It's a low level spell, but should be able to help duplicate what he wants. I see that he's probaaaably already doing that though, so if he's learning fire magic through Lemina what Rin can do is expand on it. For example: Spells of the Fire element are related to consumption, heat, entropy, fuels, energy transfer and thermodynamics. Sub-Elements: Heat. She would be able to help him use his fire magic into a specialized area which in turn can create that sort of effect.

It mostly depends on when he's learning from Lemina. Otherwise he'd have to initially learn fire magic through Rin/the Drabwurld method which can take up an entire IC season at least to get started which is a lot of time to devote to that. Admittedly I'm not sure on the details of Lemina's teaching, but that's the mod confirmation I received recently regarding Drabwurld magic. Sometimes it's a lot easier to boon these things.

Beyond that, Rin's working with Waver to create a network of information and the like via airship stuff. With the Trading Post and The Barrel working closely together, it'd be easier to accumulate non-biased information.

The poisons stuff seems ideal. In terms of the explosive magic, I figure he's not going to learn too much since yeah, he has to be trained. Lemina is teaching him fire, ice, and dark magic, the last of which will involve things like poison, but it'll be the hardest of them to teach. Plus, it's going to involve contact, so he's going to want things that will involve some indirect attacks.

I know there's the R&D thing, and I've kind of tossed it around with Roni (the Loki player) about him potentially being someone who can test what's come up there while he's running around doing his thing. Basically, I am up for Jason being a guinea pig if need be!
