[ There'll be a delay in the reply because Gray is staring at the locket for a solid minute before starting to work on a reply, which will most likely take her five other minutes. ]

[ A little hostile maybe, but Rin's middle name may as well be aggressive because that's how her personality tends to be. Funny how Waver always surrounded himself with people who were like that away from the Clock Tower. ]

My name is Gray, and I'm Lord El-Melloi II's apprentice, so his well-being, here or anywhere else remains one of my priorities.

[ Honesty is the best answer? And judging by the way this conversation is going, Gray is already wondering if she's talking to a magus. Most likely. ]

I've never met an apprentice that cared so much for their mentor's well-being before.

Unless you're inquiring about his belongings in which I'd tell you that you're too late. I already own everything.

Considering he was as much my tutor and caretaker as he was my Master, my well-being is directly linked to his own.

I do not wish to own anything of his, but if has died here I would like to have confirmation.

[ Fortunately Rin's used the locket enough times to know how to change the filter and so she makes it private, activating the video as well. Sitting with her hair pulled up into a bun, she looks a bit older than she should be...

[ And because this got her by surprise, Rin gets to see Gray's surprised face for a full second before she shifts a bit and the hood lowers a bit. Whoops. ]

He did a terrible job of it anyway, so there is no harm.

And who are you, exactly?

[ She's speaking very softly, because she knows how magi are. That Edelfelt magus was ready to gandr her face off because she was pissed at her Master. ]

[ Oh... An apprentice before her time? Rin's not entirely sure. ]

It's Tohsaka. Rin Tohsaka.

[ Quietly, as her self-esteem dissipates, she adds: ]

You've never heard of me before, have you?

The Tohsaka family are prominent in Fuyuki City, specially during the Holy Grail War. They have good standing both withing the Mage's Association and the Church.

[ She speaks without emotion (less than usual?), having read and memorized that some time ago. ]

So you and my Master...?

[ When she says it like that, Rin can't help feeling it's less of a desirable thing. The magus deflates a little as her mood slowly tanks. ]

Geez... do you really have to sour it so much? It isn't a bad thing to have an allegiance with more than one organization. [ Rin, she spoke plainly. No need to take so much offense to it. ]

[ Books don't lie, Rin. ]

I never say it did. If anything, it sounds like a convenient arrangement. [ She could have been far meaner, but Gray usually tries not to push it. ]

What is your relationship with my Master?

[ She shifts a bit in place, uncomfortable by one of the two remarks she's made though it would be difficult to tell which one it is from her reaction alone. ]

With Lord El-Melloi II? He took me in when I first arrived and we became good friends.

That isn't so strange to believe, is it?

No, it sounds to be something my Master would do, indeed. [ Magi don't play well together, but Gray can totally imagine Lord El-Melloi II going against the current. And if this woman is the same... ]

Did you know him for long?

Yes, he knew me for several years after I started studying at the Clock Tower.

[ Here it had only been a couple, but now that things have changed slightly? Rin frowns a little, uncertain of how to approach the subject. She's already publicly declared that Lord El-Melloi II has taken his leave so she expects other to pipe in with that.

Thoughtfully she steps her cheek in her uncertainty. ] You ask a lot of questions.

[ It checks out so far, although there is no way to tell for certain. Not without looking at her eye to eye and decide then. That's risky. ]

My Master always encouraged me to ask the things I didn't know, as long as it didn't turn bothersome.

[ Which is her way of saying "I'll stop if you want me to." ]

[ She wonders how Waver, in his limited patience, could ever tolerate this. Rin nods, understanding the sentiment before shaking her head. It isn't bothersome overall, it's just that the situation has been made more complicated as of late. ]

[ Like an oversized grumpy cat, actually. Also Waver turned out to be surprisingly good at teaching...wait, that wasn't a surprise at all.

Gray simply nods in silence. There are things she wants to ask, but none seem appropriate at the moment. But waiting might mean she won't be able to ask later on anyway. There is also the fact she might as well be all alone in here and Rin has somewhat assumed she's her problem now. ]

What should I do now? If my Master is not here, I find myself in an unexpected situation.

It's troublesome, but I think I do have to look out for you. [ At least she's surprisingly upfront about her feelings on the matter.

At least she has the grumpy part down. ] If you don't have a place to stay, that is.

I guess I really have nowhere to go.

[ This is going to be interesting. Or terrifying. Or both. ]

Then I'll be in your care, if that's really okay with you. [ Which she said she was, begrudgingly, but she did say it. Just...triple checking. ]

If anything, you will be happy to know I am fully capable of cleaning, cooking and generally keeping everything in order.

[ She'll brush your hair girl. ]

[ It can't be helped. ] I have a bad habit of taking in strays as it is so think nothing of it.

[ Rin hasn't had someone brush her hair in so long. Treat her like the queen she is a servant would and she'll never let her leave. ]

There's a couple of automatons provided by Lord El-Melloi II that handle the housework so there's no need for you to have to do anything of the sort.
