I object to none of the above at all, although the irritatingly old part of me feels the need to say that one should always consider all options and nuances before taking sides. The less irritating parts of me suggests you ignore the old grumpy part.

The heads up about hugging actually means I'll be quite okay with it. Although you're right about all conversations being infinitely more goal oriented than interpersonal. It seems to be an effect of this place, more than anything else.
