[his frown deepens a little, apparently not entirely convinced -- they might be stuck here now, but wouldn't it suck to find themselves chained to the place even after they found a way out? it's a lot more speculation than he can really be comfortable with.

unfortunately, starvation really is a more immediate problem than any possible food-based curses. and even if he was right to have been concerned, it wouldn't really feel right to find a way out and have to leave behind a friend who'd already gone ahead and drank their fairy juice.

sighing, he shrugs and snags a goblet of something from the tray of a passing fae server.]

Cheers, then.
deathdiduspart: (Why am I not strong enough?)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-24 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Nico doesn't like it, either, but while his diet says otherwise, he really doesn't want to starve or die of thirst. Better to take a chance in his opinion. He just takes a sip of what's in his goblet in response, which is thankfully water. Very good, clean water, too.]

There might be some spirits I can talk to, but I'll have to do some research first. Celtic ghosts are typically more different than Greek and Roman.

[And if he's honest, he really wants to meet a Will'O Wisp.]

What do you think the chances are that fairyland has a library with books in a language we can actually read?

[he takes an idle sip from his goblet and immediately makes a face. that is definitely not water.]
deathdiduspart: (Ambassador of Pluto)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-24 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
I've been listening in on other conversations, and I'm pretty sure that fairyland typically doesn't speak English. So, I'd assume that they've enchanted either us or something else so that we can all understand each other. I don't know if that extends to reading, but it'd be pretty useless of them to offer the library if we couldn't.

[Nico shrugs, and looks slightly amused at the face Jason makes. He'll take sadistic humor for $200, Alex.]
oursavinggrace: (ϟshut up percy)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-24 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
I get the feeling "magic" is gonna be the answer to most questions about this place.

[the lucky thing about being a demigod is that they're used to these kind of shenanigans, at least.

and as much as he appreciates nico being anything other than moody and antisocial, the fact that it comes at the cost of his discomfort is a little less nice. for a moment his frown looks almost petulant, and then he steels himself and continues sipping at his drink with a determinedly straight face.]
deathdiduspart: (But I'm BORED)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-25 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[The amusement is still there, but it's gone after a moment. He shrugs in response.]

You're in a world full of fairies, dwarves, and elves. What did you expect?
oursavinggrace: (☈nico stop)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-25 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[that small victory was totally worth the gross drink torment. totally.]

I didn't expect much else. But after everything we're used to, I was sort of hoping this stuff would be simpler in comparison.
deathdiduspart: (Not sure if dumb or what)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-25 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's being optimistic. Besides, some of the stories that I remember were muddled anyway. The Christian conversion from what they'd been to Saints is enough to make a normal person's head spin.

[Not to mention that it's literally impossible to pronounce their names. Nico only remembers Brigid and Lu, and everything else is pretty much a jumble of letters.]
oursavinggrace: (♃jason/brick otp)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-25 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm an optimistic person.

[the fact that he doesn't wear a helmet 24/7 at this point is evidence enough of that.]

And...you kind of lost me already. I cant really say I'm familiar with more than the really basic fairy tales.
deathdiduspart: (Alone time needed)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-25 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I believe that.

[Nico thinks it says a lot that Piper doesn't even try to fight with the brick for Jason's affections.]

It was a way for the Christians to convert the locals in the British Isles, from what I remember. They changed the stories to put their Saints in a better light, and even combined their religious symbols to encourage them into thinking that their religion was the right path.
oursavinggrace: (♃blond superman)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[apparently he just attracts that type.]

So they turned their stories into propaganda? Wow.
deathdiduspart: (Chances to take)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-25 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. It was more peaceful than conquering them, though that's not saying a lot.

[He glances around the place.]

I doubt these people have the stories of the Saints. The original stories might not be as confusing here.
oursavinggrace: (♃he's totally a hufflepuff)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-25 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
[he follows that gaze along for a few moments, unsure what he's supposed to make of this group. the jump from being kidnapped to being treated to a feast is a bit perplexing, after all.

eventually, he glances back to the other demigod with a tiny attempt at a smile.]

At least their stories probably involve less incest.
deathdiduspart: (Blue birthday cake wow)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-25 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He snorts.]

Less incest, way more meddling with mortals, and that's about all I know, except....

[Nico takes a moment to think, trying to remember if there's anything similar between the groups.]

I think that their nymphs were roughly the same as ours. Satyrs or fawns for them were definitely more on the mischievous side. There are some parallels between the Celtic and Greco-Roman faiths.
oursavinggrace: (♃jason/brick otp)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-25 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
More meddling with mortals?

[that's actually impressive, if horrifying.]

Is that why you always hear the devil described as having goat legs, then? I always thought was kind of a weird coincidence, harmless as our kind generally are. Besides Coach Hedge, anyway.
deathdiduspart: (Blue birthday cake wow)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-26 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Terrifying, right?

[So deadpan.]

I think so. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where it came from. Their faith in those days was dead set on making pagans the enemy, and to either convert them or kill them if they refused, after all.
oursavinggrace: (♃jason/brick otp)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-26 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonder how they'd feel if they knew that "pagans" are the major power in the west these days.

[probably not very pleased, so maybe they shouldn't actually mention that. starting a mythos war really wouldn't be helpful right now. the greeks and romans could barely handle that, and they were practically the same thing in comparison to all this.]
deathdiduspart: (Not sure if dumb or what)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-26 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt they'd believe you. Or they'd think you're insane.

[Nico says that last part like he's pretty much in agreement.]
oursavinggrace: (♃he's totally a hufflepuff)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-26 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[he will just go ahead and ignore that because come on he's having an actual conversation with nico di angelo, that is a feat in itself and not something to be risked lightly.]

I guess that's probably for the best. Last thing we want is for any of this to follow us home when it's all over.
deathdiduspart: (Sulky McSulkertins)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-26 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[He makes a noise of ascent at that. Nico hesitates and then rolls his eyes a little.]

I'm still staying for a few days to do research on the spirits here. And I guess I can stay in contact while we're here.

[This kid is not happy about this, but sacrifices need to be made if they want to get out of here alive and in one piece.]
oursavinggrace: (♃too optimistic for a helmet)

[personal profile] oursavinggrace 2014-03-26 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[you make it sound like the end of the world but hey jason is a puppy and will happily take what he can get.]

Thanks.
deathdiduspart: (Alone time needed)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-26 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ugh.]

I'm going to go ahead and get a head start on it. It's...getting a bit crowded.

[Nico frowns at everyone else and then steps into the shadows to follow through on his statement. Hell yes he is absconding this social gathering and the conversation with Jason.]
deathdiduspart: (Powers of the Underworld)

[personal profile] deathdiduspart 2014-03-26 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[He does not care.]
