There might be some spirits I can talk to, but I'll have to do some research first. Celtic ghosts are typically more different than Greek and Roman.
[And if he's honest, he really wants to meet a Will'O Wisp.]

[he takes an idle sip from his goblet and immediately makes a face. that is definitely not water.]

[Nico shrugs, and looks slightly amused at the face Jason makes. He'll take sadistic humor for $200, Alex.]

[the lucky thing about being a demigod is that they're used to these kind of shenanigans, at least.
and as much as he appreciates nico being anything other than moody and antisocial, the fact that it comes at the cost of his discomfort is a little less nice. for a moment his frown looks almost petulant, and then he steels himself and continues sipping at his drink with a determinedly straight face.]

You're in a world full of fairies, dwarves, and elves. What did you expect?
no subject
I didn't expect much else. But after everything we're used to, I was sort of hoping this stuff would be simpler in comparison.
no subject
[Not to mention that it's literally impossible to pronounce their names. Nico only remembers Brigid and Lu, and everything else is pretty much a jumble of letters.]
no subject
[the fact that he doesn't wear a helmet 24/7 at this point is evidence enough of that.]
And...you kind of lost me already. I cant really say I'm familiar with more than the really basic fairy tales.

[Nico thinks it says a lot that Piper doesn't even try to fight with the brick for Jason's affections.]
It was a way for the Christians to convert the locals in the British Isles, from what I remember. They changed the stories to put their Saints in a better light, and even combined their religious symbols to encourage them into thinking that their religion was the right path.
no subject
So they turned their stories into propaganda? Wow.
no subject
[He glances around the place.]
I doubt these people have the stories of the Saints. The original stories might not be as confusing here.
no subject
eventually, he glances back to the other demigod with a tiny attempt at a smile.]
At least their stories probably involve less incest.
no subject
Less incest, way more meddling with mortals, and that's about all I know, except....
[Nico takes a moment to think, trying to remember if there's anything similar between the groups.]
I think that their nymphs were roughly the same as ours. Satyrs or fawns for them were definitely more on the mischievous side. There are some parallels between the Celtic and Greco-Roman faiths.
no subject
[that's actually impressive, if horrifying.]
Is that why you always hear the devil described as having goat legs, then? I always thought was kind of a weird coincidence, harmless as our kind generally are. Besides Coach Hedge, anyway.
no subject
[So deadpan.]
I think so. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where it came from. Their faith in those days was dead set on making pagans the enemy, and to either convert them or kill them if they refused, after all.
no subject
[probably not very pleased, so maybe they shouldn't actually mention that. starting a mythos war really wouldn't be helpful right now. the greeks and romans could barely handle that, and they were practically the same thing in comparison to all this.]
no subject
[Nico says that last part like he's pretty much in agreement.]
no subject
I guess that's probably for the best. Last thing we want is for any of this to follow us home when it's all over.
no subject
I'm still staying for a few days to do research on the spirits here. And I guess I can stay in contact while we're here.
[This kid is not happy about this, but sacrifices need to be made if they want to get out of here alive and in one piece.]
no subject
Thanks.
no subject
I'm going to go ahead and get a head start on it. It's...getting a bit crowded.
[Nico frowns at everyone else and then steps into the shadows to follow through on his statement. Hell yes he is absconding this social gathering and the conversation with Jason.]
