derek hale | teen wolf
he turns to leave without approaching the table, without circulating through the crowd. what derek wants is a chance to get used to this, to find somewhere quiet and isolated to think his way through this. and possibly to try to get the hell out of here and back to beacon hills in time to evict a hoard of rowdy teenagers from his loft before they broke everything ever. fairy parties? not high on derek's to-do list at the moment. he moves purposefully through the people gathered, not bothering to stop for any pleasantries. ]

Oh.
Following, she peeks out through the doorway, the slightly darker hallways, before she speaks. ]
Excuse me? Are you alright?
no subject
Are you?
[ eyebrows raised, like he's expecting a specific, negative answer. they're all in a castle stuck in some random place with no immediately visible exit. who would be alright? ]
no subject
[ Perhaps not the best thing to say but she takes a deep breath and walks forward anyway. She's a little bit overwhelmed herself but she's been reading her map and learning as best she can, so she doesn't feel as completely at a loss as she did when she first arrived. ]
You should try and eat something, if you are. It does help.

[isaac's been trying to stay away from the crowd, hovering by walls and trying to find a familiar scent between the mixture of sweat and fear and general unfamiliarity that settles so easily inside of the room. as soon as he spots the familiar silhouette of derek from a corner of the room, he darts for him.
sure, maybe he's not the first person that isaac would initially run to in a moment of panic, but there's a certain amount of trust between them that still lingers, and a familiar face is sending isaac reeling in both relief and more panic.
once he's caught up, he speaks up again,]
Do you have any idea how this happened? Is anyone else here?
[are you okay?]
no subject
No. And I haven't found anyone we know either.
[ he should take a yet onto that sentence, but optimism doesn't come easily to derek. ]
Are you alright?
[ a little stiffly, like derek isn't sure how that question is going to be received. ]
no subject
[isaac lets out a frustrated sigh, jaw clenching as he searches his mind for a response. he's not okay, he hasn't been just "okay" for a while now. it's hard to even form the right answer, especially here. and derek isn't exactly the person that isaac would open up to. they just don't sit right together anymore- he's not sure if they ever did.
instead of answering right away, he opens his arms to motion to the room -- the situation -- and presses his lips into a thin line.]
Oh, you know. Just great.
no subject
Great. [ derek echoes, sarcastic, then shakes his head. ] We should find a way out.
[ and derek doesn't really need much help to work out that actually finding the exit is easier said than done. ]
no subject
You sure we shouldn't look around more?
[and it may just be him, but he's not so sure finding a way out will be as easy a feat as it sounds.]
no subject
did you want to find stiles running face first into you and spilling his drink all over the place?
because that's what just happened.
one minute, stiles had been across the room, but he'd been distracted by something, sharp eyes following a fairy across the room to see if she was putting anything weird in the drinks, as if this was some kind of fairy cult party (he would not be surprised), but that led to him not watching where he was going, and therefore, straight into derek's escape route. there's a splash and the goblet ends up half on his shirt and half on derek's, and stiles swears, pulling his t-shirt away from himself stickily, muttering: ]
Oof--jesus christ, people need to watch where they're friggin--dude, I am so--[ and then he actually bothers to look at who he ran into, and stiles' mouth curves into a confused frown, sounding half confused and half irritated. (which is kind of a go-to with derek most of the time. ] Derek? What the hell?
no subject
You need to watch where you're going.
[ long-suffering, hands dropping to his sides like derek's just given up on the world. ]
When did you get here?
[ the "and do you know the way out" is just a given. ]
no subject
I dunno, like an hour ago? I was in a hospital bed when Melissa basically drugged me--okay, I guess I kinda needed it or whatever, but still, unwarranted needle attacking--and then I woke up getting dragged around by the troll gang.
[ he grimaces. ] Literally. [ and then gives derek an up and down, appraising look. ] They grabbed you too?
ah yes good the twoofs
She sincerely hopes she did not just hit Derek with her hair. She has seen frowns like that before. She has been on the receiving end of brooding frowns like that more times than she can count and those were just from her cat.
She winces. ] S-sorry, did I just hit you?
no subject
So when he sees the familiar retreating back of Derek it's a relief to find someone familiar in this whole crazy mess. Excusing himself half apologetically from the girl who was talking to him, he hurries to catch up.]
Derek! Hey.
