luke castellan / percy jackson.
[ luke stays off to the corners, lingering in the shadows. the feast is literally endless — and something he thinks those at camp halfblood would be envious of. he doesn't let the thought linger, much like how he pushes himself from the wall he's leaning upon and begins to walk around the edge of the room. he can't let his thoughts linger, can't think about them — of thalia and annabeth, of the way things used to be. could've been. he has something to do — a purpose, something that neither of them could ever fathom to understand. he walks away from the corner as a way to leave those thoughts behind. let them stitch themselves to the dark patches of the wall. ]
[ he comes to stand beside someone. leaning over, he grabs a handful of grapes from the table. ] Great party. [ he doesn't sound too impressed. ]
( haven't quite finished all the books in pjo but totally okay with spoilers! )

Percy's not making any moves but he's pretty uncomfortable with Luke standing over him. he doesn't know what to think. ]

[ luke smiles, though. that kind of smile that makes a good kind of hero want to punch it right off his face. he doesn't expect anything from percy jackson — he stopped expecting anything from anyone a long time ago. ] Come on, Jackson. Let bygones be bygones. [ he says it with a smile, arms open wide. it's an invitation, as it always is. how many times has he invited percy to join him? play with the big boys. play on the right side. ] It's a party. [ and he grabs a grape and pops it into his mouth. ] Enjoy yourself while it lasts.

and then curiosity gets the better of her, and when she's got a free moment and can still see percy from where she walks off to the side, just to check. just to make sense. and when she makes it there, the figure is gone, and her eyes are scanning as she walks- the reason why she all but runs into him.
him. annabeth freezes up, eyes wide. there no way. ]
L-luke?
no subject
[ luke almost does a double-take. almost. if it hadn't been for those startling grey eyes, he wouldn't have recognised her. ]
[ but it doesn't surprise him that she's here. she's a hero, after all, and a good one at that. where there's a villain there's always a good guy. a ying to a yang, the light to dark. maybe she's the one that's meant to balance him out. ]
[ luke smiles. ] Hey Annabeth. [ and if he looks at her appraisingly, well, it can't be helped. he's always had a bit of a soft spot for chase. ]
You look good. [ he glances around, smile still in place. he acts as though he hadn't tried to place the weight of the world literally onto her shoulders just a year before. he acts as though he hadn't betrayed her in the worst possible way family could to another. he simply acts like he doesn't have a care in the world — and he doesn't. ] Enjoying the feast?

it doesn't take her long to recognize who the voice belongs to. she only mutters one word, "you," before she whirls around and decks him square in the jaw. surprising? not in the least. you can't say you didn't see that one coming, luke, but at this proximity clarisse is much too fast for you to dodge. sorry about your face. except not really. ]
Yeah, great party.
[ even better now that she might get a good fight out of it. ]
no subject
Stellar company. [ he rubs his jaw. he doesn't close the gap, nor does he raise his own hand against her. he's not looking for a fight. if anything, he's just tired. ] I don't need to ask what that was for.
[ the end of the world. questioning the gods. trying to kill jackson and annabeth — although, really, if someone actually bothered to ask him, he'd tell them he had doubts, every single damn time. listening to kronos. being too weak to fight him. winning capture the flag. there's so many reasons, but he knows what had driven her to try and break his face. knows the exact people she's thinking of right now. ]
no subject
Tch. Yeah, no shit. You even say her name, I'll punch you again, and I will break something.
[ that's a promise. and, unlike some people, clarisse keeps her promises. ]
no subject
[ jokes. ]
Yeah, wasn't planning on it. But something tells me you're gonna find an excuse to hit me, anyway, so. [ luke drops the food in his hand onto the table and spreads his arms out wide. he's mocking her, just a little. goading her into doing it. because that's what he deserves, right? not elysium. he deserves this — trapped in this weird as hell place with an angry clarisse la rue for company. ] Lets get this over with.
no subject
Oh, you're on, Scarface.
[ yeah, that's right. she just called you scarface. and she is swinging at said scarface face with full force. no holding back this time, just pure unadulterated ares rage. ]
no subject
[ he is very sensitive to the name scarface, okay. this is so mean. ]
Got anything original in that arsenal of yours? Or are you all about a repeat? [ because he'll give her a repeat of kicking her ass — despite it always being in capture the flag, luke figures he could give her a run for her money. if he had a sword on him, he knows he'd have her ass beat. ]
no subject
You want something original? How about this?
[ this being the maneuver that involves wrenching his arm over her shoulder and sending him crashing into the nicely arranged table of food. she would kick him while he's down, but that's not her style. ]
Bon apetit, asshole.
no subject
Smooth.
[This kid played up the awkward a little too much if he expected a random stranger to discuss the fruit with him.]
What I'd really go for is an open bar. Sure, the buffet's nice but who knows where this food's been.
no subject
[ he frowns, amused. this guy won't trust the food, but he'll trust the drinks? weird. but, then again, maybe this guy knows something he doesn't. ] You'd trust drinks strangers gave you? Over food? [ and as if to make a point, he pops a grape in his mouth. hasn't disintegrated yet! ]
no subject
[The whole attitude thing didn't fly, but he could appreciate it. If he was where this kid was he'd be asking the same thing. Not a lot makes sense here, but Dean's got vices and weaknesses out the ass and that just happens to be one of 'em.]
I can trust a bottle of booze I open myself a lot better than pre-cooked food.
[Even if he was pretty hungry at this point. Dean pulls out his flask and shakes it.]
Besides, I have this, and if I'm honest with myself- it could use a refill.

strangely, maybe (except not really), he's thankful to at least have his weapon handy. not that he suspects he'll need it, but he knows the picture it makes. at least it will ward off any untoward greetings.
...except one, apparently. fenris has a bottle of wine clasped between the fingers of one hand (he nicked it from somewhere, don't worry about it) and drinks straight from it instead of using a glass. old habits. his lips curl into a slight sneer, for once not intending to be actually that. he's trying to appear at ease. ]
It's too much for show. [ he takes a pull from the bottle before glancing over. ] And they have poor choices for wine.
no subject
[ no, nicking things and breaking into places and betraying friends is his specialty to a t. he'd think fenris a son of hermes if he knew he'd stolen the wine without so much as raising suspicion within the party. but, then again, isn't all of this for free? ]
[ luke glances around. ] You think they're hiding something? [ the answer is obvious: yes. but if this guy knows something he doesn't, well, hopefully he's about to find out. ]
