cassie is... like... a really tall super strong ikki, to mako. he can't help but think of new people in relation to others he already knows. more than anyone else in this new krew, she feels young to him, younger than bolin, and uh, that's kind of saying a lot, because bolin's always going to be mako's baby brother no matter how much he can bench press and whatever facial hair he ever grows.
but at the same time he respects the fact that she can kick his ass sicks ways to the next solstice, and is thus more inclined to treat her like he'd treat any other street kid — assuming she can handle things herself, and maybe.... a little bit of mothering, because oh my spirits, girl, your room is a MESS... HOW IS IT SO MESSY...
he doesn't get you, you're like a weird yue-avatar magic thing with something for whales. so far he doesn't have any evidence that you're like BAD but... it's creepy and that creepiness is warring with his curiosity, plus the super blase comments about how oh they think i'm evil all spirits are eveil blah blah blah makes the hair stand up a bit on the back of his neck

UH... mako probably actually sees him more as a comrade with seniority than an actual dadfigure, and mako finds his gruff sensibility and linefacyness pretty reassuring, because he reminds mako of lin bei fong. which is probably one of the highest compliments he can give you, tbh. but at the same time, there is that little bit of dad-ness that kind of reminds him of what he's seen in tenzin, that makes him want to and willing to go to him to ask that he keep an eye out on bolin and korra without their bending....?
mako seriously doesn't really know what he feels about luke. on one hand, he's inclined to like him because from what he's seen clarisse doesn't, on the other, the cop in him is like wait this guy's basically born to be a really good thief? and on the one foot he's impressed by how well they basically bounced ideas around during capture the flag, and how well it almost worked.
but he doesn't really know the guy, and apart from his interest in naga, probably wouldn't seek him out without someone else leading him, like bo or korra, or needing to ask something.
