this is simultaneously easy and difficult for me because even though korra and grell have never talked at length, the impact grell has had on korra's life here in the drabwurld is such that i never saw coming, even knowing the premise of the game.
in the most basic of terms: korra wants to make grell pay for what she did, and right now her murderous impulse is strong. on the upside (yes, there is an upside here), korra definitely recognizes that impulse in herself and is barely capable of controlling it. in fact, the only thing that keeps it in check is the fact that korra wants to believe herself above murder and above taking a life just because she wants to. in her mind, that's the reaction of a coward, and she's better than that. and honestly, it scares her that she feels that way. no part of her wants to be a murderer but whenever she sees grell she just wants to act and not think, you know?
but she has to control herself and she keeps telling herself that. she justifies "killing" unalaq by saying that he had to be stopped and that there was no way to save him from vaatu's spirit, and because her cousins didn't seem to bothered by it, she let it go. and even though kyoshi, the last female avatar, had no problem letting bad people run themselves into the ground, that's not the type of avatar korra wants to be — and she worries that killing grell, or anyone else in this war for that matter, will start her down a slippery slope she'll never be able to recover from.
it's not even 8pm and yet i say it's too early for these emotions. way too early.
i wish there was some way icly that korra could find out that you can honestly beat the living shit out of grell and she'll survive so that she can exact payment without having to betray any of her principles ; ; she 300% deserves it
