However, while they've only spoken once, what Anthony gleaned off of Van the time that they have thus far gave him an impression of him as purely admirable, ideal - gracefully but fiercely pinned to loyalty and duty (that they are "part of each other" or not, his reaction to separation from this mysterious companion of his was clearly sincere), strong, quick to react to rational cause for outrage but also kind. Anthony gave him nothing but uncertain babble nothing could be done but resign with and yet he seemed to also honestly assure him that was enough to have "done good" - and at this point, any reassurance or lenience on that front banks in Anthony's indefinite gratitude.
He'd probably watch for another chance he could do or say anything else of interest to him if they crossed paths again, hope that he continues a good impression.
For lack of any less ridiculous phrasing for the moment, in other words, the thought is a tentative "catch senpai's eye".
