Despite having been away from her in this world for a few months, not to mention the months in New York apart from her that he now has experienced, it's hard not to fall back into that familiar role that he was finally wriggling out of at East.]
There is no situation. Not even close. [He actually sounds pretty disappointed.] I tried asking around when I first got here but nobody seems to know of an already-established theatre. [...oh. Oh, wait, maybe he can tell her what he's been working on...
...of course, she'll just come in and make herself the star, but that's basically Ryan's life story. At least he's got Juilliard.] I'm sort of putting something together though in my spare time.
no subject
That horror only lessens slightly when he says he's putting something together.]
Oh, good.
[There's a pause as she thinks it over.]
So, we should get on this pronto. Maybe hold auditions for the supporting roles.
[Because they'll obviously be the leads. DUH.]

Sharpay. [Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away (or at the Station, whatever) Ryan's just burying his face in his hands for a second.
Of course.]
I already thought of that. [Which is true. He's even gone as far as asking everybody in Drabwurld who has experience in the theatre and who doesn't.] But what about what they actually want us to do here? [It's probably not fair to really expect her to ask what, exactly, he's been doing for the last two months. Actually no it's totally not fair to expect that from her because that's typical of Sharpay. Sharpay focuses on what Sharpay wants to focus on, and right now she wants to focus on being the star. That's fine. In a strange way it's almost a relief because at least that Ryan knows how to handle.
(He's not even going to touch on the fact that he is, once again, making excuses for his sister. That's a whole other ball of "what the fuck" that he'll touch upon another day. In another life.)
He could always tell her himself. He could always ramble about the fact that he's met firebenders and zombies and idols and there are baby dragons and about the shadow-monsters he still can't be assed to remember the name of--hell, he could probably find her and show her the journal he's been filling out with all kinds of news, but he's pretty sure she wouldn't actually absorb any of it. Not right now. So instead he shuts his mouth.]
And where are you anyway?
no subject
She keeps her tongue in check, knowing she's a small fish in a big pond. She needs all the help she can get to climb to the top. She gets that there's a war going, but wasn't there, like, always a war happening? That never stopped their music before.]
People need a break from the ridiculous amounts of depressing that seems to be going on around here. Who better to do that than us?
[She gives a small tilt to her head, looking around.]
I'm in the Unseelie Court. [SCOFF.] I so shouldn't be here. It's totally unfair. Where are you?
no subject
And…well. Yeah. Yeah, who better to do it than the twins who've grown up on stage their whole lives? When he responds, he at least sounds more enthused about the idea.
But like hell he's going to say "you're right."]
Well. We have always said that the theatre needs fans.
[But no. Noooo no no, any sense of security he might have just felt suddenly disappears in an instance and he's actually frozen on his end of the locket-call. He doesn't say anything for a long moment while he processes that.
Why was Sharpay in Unseelie Court? Okay, sure, it was kind of ridiculous to assume that they'd be going to Juilliard together just because they were twins but this is a little much.
…but at least he can be honest.]
I'm at the Station. [Let's just casually nope the hell out of court alliance discussions right now.] It's pretty far from the courts though. It still took us three days just to get here by sky bison.
no subject
She waits for him to tell her where he is, foot tapping impatiently... But that mode of transportation? Noooope, we're gonna focus on that for a little bit.]
SKY BISON?!??!?!?!
[Excuse you?]
What the hell is a sky bison?
no subject
Do you want me to answer that, or do you want to see for yourself?
no subject
I so want to see this thing... But I thought you said you were like two or three days away?
[Because this is definitely something she wants to see in person.]
no subject
Nevertheless though the video function of the locket turns on and Sharpay's going to be greeted with a massive amount of white fur in the picture. Ryan's out of the frame holding the locket, but it's obvious he's talking to the bison.] Appa...c'mon, stop ignoring me. Turn...good boy.
[And yeah. There is now also a camera-full of bison-face.]
This is about as good as it's gonna get right now.
no subject
Any coherent thought she might have had goes out the window at the sight of the sky bison.]
Oh. My. God.
[She does her best not to squeal, although it's hard. Very hard. It's also been decided. She wants one. She wants one now, her mind already trying to figure out how to make it happen.]
His name is Appa?
no subject
However...he's not sure how she'd react to knowing they're on opposite sides now. It's best not to mention it. Instead, he grins even if she can't see it and Appa's just staring and probably wondering why, exactly, Ryan's holding his locket in his face. Instead the sky bison just yawns widely, showing his teeth briefly.]
Yup. That's what Korra calls him anyway. The fairies brought him to her when she asked. […Shar please don't ask the fairies (…well, imps in her case) for a bison that's the last thing they need.] He's a lot bigger in person than you think but I think he's gotten used to me. [In fact, the camera's moving to show her the saddle on Appa's back, too.]
Not quite first class, but it works.
