Magic books don't mean squat to vampires, little missy. We can't do magic. i was hoping it was a ring or something an undead body could use.

There are some things that just can't be fiddled with. Vampires can't do magic because their ties as witches to... nature or whatever it is witches are tied to, if that's what they are before they die, is cut when they die. Just like we can't procreate, either. But hey, if the rules have changed, I wouldn't mind seeing if that one has. What do you say, sunshine?

Yes, miss judgy. I even have a heartbeat. Everything works the way it should. I just have it all... more.

Except you run on blood-batteries.

You say that with so much censure. You run on food batteries. Food and water and sunshine. People still kill animals to eat, last time I checked. It's called 'the food chain'. I just happen to be at the top. And if I'm in a good mood, I don't have to kill my juice box de jour.

Undead. There's a difference. Dead things don't need to breathe or have a pulse. If you broke a dead thing's neck, it wouldn't kill it. You couldn't drown something that's dead. I, on the other hand... really dislike drowning.

And you need to breathe? Need your bones all... functional?

[ Which is different than having a broken neck, but that's not the point. ]

I'm just trying to understand. It's- confusing. Especially when you add in different worlds.

Yes. We heal, but we can be broken a bit first. Break our necks, we die. We just don't stay dead. That's part of the magic.
