Something like that, yes. Not here immediately, but rather in the year 1991, as I mentioned. It's rather a complicated explanation, however.

I suppose I can't mention it and go on to deny the request for an explanation, can I? Well, in the time I was called to, in Japan, practitioners of a sort of magic are fighting among eachother to obtain a wish from the Holy Grail. Please don't think me somehow touched, what I say is true! However, rather than do battle directly, the Grail has granted them the ability to summon forth a figure of mythology or history, in order to fight in their stead, called a Servant. I was summoned as Servant Berserker, by a young man about your age.

[Dorian listens, and he attends with confusion, some skepticism, but a willingness to believe. In their circumstances, how could he not? Even so, it seems bizarre, a truly strange idea.] That is not at all like the Holy Grail legends with which I have any passing familiarity.

Nor I. It's not at all like King Arthur's quest for the Holy Grail. Although such figures could be summoned. [And Arthur was, in fact. What's more, Jekyll desperately wishes to speak with him, as himself, and not Hyde, or under the influence of Mad Enhancement. If only he knew who that man was.]

It would seem a little unfair to bring them forth again when they've already been called to that quest before.

Truly, it would be too cruel. And yet, it seems rather likely. A knight would be more suited to the task than one such as myself.

A knight of a pure heart, or so the legend goes. I suppose I might appreciate the medieval art, if not the medieval morals.

[Stop that.

Jekyll casts his eyes downward, and fumbles with the potion in his coat pocket - though keeping it concealed there. His heart seems to leap into his throat, as he becomes suddenly aware of the war within his own body.]

I admire that sort of person. I fought one, who was truly admirable.

[Berserker would have killed that little girl, if it wasn't for the knight's intervention. And he must have been a knight, not only for his armour, but to fight to save the child of an enemy. That's exactly what a knight would do.]

We all could benefit by their example.

[Dorian feels certain that he has gotten it wrong, and he bows his head, rosy-cheeked once more, voice nervous to see things right.] I'm sorry, I only meant—I didn't mean anything by it.

[He pulls his hand from his pocket, and finger-by-finger does away with his gloves, to push them into that pocket and put a barrier between the potion and himself. It could become all too tempting to use it, if he can't be a hero of justice, to go the opposite route. Instead, Berserker puts on his best smile, his greatest of talents.]

No, Mr. Gray, you need not apologise. The subject is mine alone to lament. What's more besides, my original meaning was nothing more than that a knight should be more suited to a combative situation than a doctor. Unless you intend to accuse me of having anything less than a maiden's heart?

[It is a good smile, and it distracts him from the peculiar behaviour that preceded it. Dorian lifts his head up, now a little curious, but not certain about if he should ask.

And then he's instantly sent back-pedalling again.] No, of course not—or rather, I would say you don't have a maiden's heart, but I'm certain your heart is as good as any.

[Covering his mouth, Jekyll laughs, before raising a hand to relent.] I'm afraid I've teased you too much. You needn't remain polite in response to mockery.

[Dorian's very startled.] Oh! You were—mocking me? I didn't realize. [Which is even more mockable. Oh my god he sucks. KICK YOURSELF IN THE TROUSERS, DORIAN, YOU SUCK.]

[Oh- oh no, he's worse than Tatsumi, it's long since moved from good natured, minor teasing to...just wrong.] A-ah, my most sincere apologies, Mr. Gray. It was nothing more than a small joke, which really was more at my own expense than yours. Please do forgive me my behaviour. I haven't quite got the hang of acting my apparent age.

[He can accept that, derp that he is.] O-oh, all right.

Certain of what, exactly? I am certain I had no intention of being cruel. If I overstep, you'll reprimand me, won't you? I wish to fully immerse myself in the mindset of this age, but you see, it proves to be incredibly difficult without my mentor. It is a perilous thing. So you must chastise me for any transgressions, Mr. Gray, and do not hold back for politeness.

[Stand up for yourself, poor, shy boy.]

I could not chastise you for anything, Dr Jekyll. [He manages a slightly braver smile.] How could I be so rude to the Royal Society?

[It's okay, they probably think he's a quack by now, so, it would only be agreeing with them!

Jekyll laughs, and feigning importance, raises his chin a little higher.]

Ignoring my request would be to disregard the orders of a Doctor of Laws, and more besides!

[At least Dorian's smile is getting better in response.] What, dare I ask, is that 'more' besides your doctorate?

More doctorates! I am not only a man of science and medicine, but law as well. So you see, you mustn't disregard the law.

[He has like five doctorates don't underestimate him]

[Wait, this is about him again. He is shy again, except he's a huge nerd so he wants to talk about it. But also, it isn't exactly the most popular topic in social circles and he knows that.] I do, Doctor. At Cambridge. Christ's College.

Ah, how wonderful, I too studied at Cambridge! Theology, then? Such a rare topic, but as good a topic as any. Better, in fact.

[He tries not to allow his smile to waver, as his statement comes with the distinct feeling of dread and pain which he knows to mean Hyde's annoyance.]

[Dorian shakes his head slightly, somehow feeling he is a disappointment to Jekyll by not studying Theology.] No—I am not settled, but—mathematics is what I like best.

Ah, very interesting! Too many ignore mathematics, even in my field, yet they always hold relevance, do they not? You must be wise, Mr. Gray.
