It is not bad. [ One moment there is nothing, the next there is Cole, head and hat tilted as he gives the plate of food a funny look. Bleh. ] It smells... weird, but it won't hurt. They don't want to hurt, they want to make you, comfortable. You are precious.

I guess it is a little strange, compared to home. I mean, we had magic but it was nothing like this. I'm not sure if things like a phone would work outside the Station, isn't that the only area that that sort of thing works? I'm not sure how much help I could be, but I wouldn't mind trying if you needed a hand with something?

[Except Hiro is a prodigy and this girl often ends up being the one to leave her homework to the last minute. Nowhere near Hiro's level, even if she tries and her enthusiasm and curiosity might barely begin to make up for that.]

[By the time he finds one, which might not even be that long, she's already sticking a fork into the cake and eating it directly from the entire thing.

[Sabriel is struck speechless for a moment. Then-]

[She's aware the voice just admitted to being Dead, but between all the strangeness of the drabwurld and the fact that she has no idea where the voice actually is, she's more exasperated than afraid.]

[ gloved hands hold the locket up. at first, all the feed shows is bog. dark and dank and probably smelly, though let's be thankful the scent does not transmit over the enchanted artefact. in the background someone grumbles and shifts in place (the angle suggests the one touting this locket is lying on his stomach.

eventually, a little shellycoat comes ambling into view -- piping and imitating the noise of a child. a drowning child. snake, understandably distressed, had chased the sound this far. but when he realized it was no child but some infernal creature! well: ]

Ugh. [ a rough voice registers petty disgust. ] What is it? [ a heartbeat's pause. ] I wonder how it tastes--

Feast

[Greg takes arriving in the fairy court completely in stride, as though it's one of the most normal things to happen to him. He nods and waves politely at everyone he sees. But the Feast is looking pretty good about now! He's piling his plate high with food, less because he's hungry and more because he's making a giant mountain, with room for a gravy volcano in the middle. Or whatever kind of gravy they're serving here!

Of course, he's pretty short, so reaching out for that jug that looks like it could have gravy in it isn't the easiest. He's hopping up and down trying to stretch his arms far enough across the table to reach it.]

Locket; Video

[Oh, so he's finally gotten this to work! Greg is peering into his locket. He's holding it away from his face in his palm pointing up, so you can see at the bottom of the picture an extreme close-up of the top half of a child's face, and then a lot of the teapot on top of his head.

Since he's so new, there are some important questions to get out of the way.]

[ Music makes the world go 'round. Only thing that ever changes is how the music expresses itself. And that lean, skeletal figure reminds Random of some people he knows. ]

Ummm, well, okay then. [Was this girl raised in a barn?] Enjoy.

[There's not much in this, or any other world that will stop Fëanor dead in his tracks. But the sound of his wife's voice is one of those things. He drops the cup of coffee he's about to drink, and hastens to her side.]

[It's not really a question, but he's still shocked.]

[Teddy winces. He's seen this expression on Magneto before; it's the kind he wears almost all the time. There's something sad about it, which strikes an odd, sympathetic chord within Teddy. He knows, logically, that at home Magneto is trying to be better. He knows that he probably loves Wanda and Pietro and by extension, Billy and Tommy. It's hard to wrap his head around, given his reputation, but Teddy knows Magneto has to feel something.

He's not rude enough or foolish enough to assume that the Magneto is front of him will live the same life or feel the same things. There are a million realities out there and a million reasons why he might not have children or go on a different path. ]

-- Okay. I believe you. But I'm not lying, I swear.

[He says it gently. He has no idea how Billy would handle this. Probably about as well as Teddy is. ]

I don't know if that'll be your future or if you're from a whole different universe.

[Sort of. Now is probably not the time to start explaining complicated reality warping magic and Billy's two moms. ]

But Billy is, you know, where I'm from. He's a mutant, like you. He and his brother pretty much have the same powers as their mom and uncle.

[which is pretty weird, and now really isn't the time to be thinking about the Freudian implications of that while talking to Wanda's dad.]

[ This is the part where a giant flag that says "DADDY ISSUES" would fall from the sky and land on Dorian's head, knocking him over with the weight of it. Of course, none of that happens. Dorian just shrugs and carries on conversation normally. ]

It's not in the nature of those in power to make much sense, I've found. Power speaks beyond all differences and creeds. Desperation, too.

[ He's acting all cool but the fact that he can't feel the veil or the fade is really Not Okay at the moment, never mind what'll happen once he falls asleep... ]

I'm in the Unseelie court but they'll have to win me over first before I win any war for them! Having two courts is interesting, I suppose, a sort of ultimate battle between good versus evil! But that's mega-stupid! This is real life, not a storybook! What I want to know is where are the other sides? That's why I'm establishing my own.

CHAINSAW! [He calls the Raven, a noise that can only be called a snarl following the harsh command. He wanted his fucking Raven, he wanted his brothers, the one he found and the one he dreamt. He wanted his damn friends....

[ So it's the war that has him most uncomfortable. She understands that completely. She's fighting in a war of her own, one she was drawn into with hardly any understanding or foothold in. No, she was a tool, someone who had an ability that could help the Inquisition, and nothing more...at first.

But she likes war as much as she does, and so Nasrin nods, relaxing her shoulders slightly. He seems distressed enough that she doesn't want to add to it. ]

[ Those are hard-won manners. He doesn't have to be on his best behavior here, at least not yet. Easier to move around and learn things when people don't know his actual rank. ]
