[ please let me know about spoilers and if you are okay/not okay with them!! ]

ONE;
[ When he arrived, Solas was, at least at first, rather put out. He had been rather busy and now he was tugged into another conflict, one he had no interest in whatsoever. The imps around him made noises and tried to tug him this way and that but he did little more then send them off with a stern, careful word, shaking his head and making great pains to ignore the pulls of the things around him - food, there, drink, a library somewhere, he's sure, with information, all the things that he should look into but finds himself wanting to ignore.

This is not the Fade; it is not the dreamland he is so accustomed to feeling and knowing. This is another reality, one that he has been drawn into, that is certain. Even now the creatures are trying to tug him here and there and he is frustrated, shaking them off and stalking to a far corner to think, to consider. He still has his magic, if nothing else, and his backpack, hanging off his shoulders and making his lips turn down into a frown even as one arm crosses another, his fingertips trailing over his chin carefully. This was due real consideration and he was only wary of how much time he had.

If this were any other time his first thought would be to search for the Inquisitor and their companions, but he doesn't imagine that to be the most open of places. Instead, he finds a chair and accepts the cup the imps offer him, taking a sip without looking -- until he realises that it's tea, his nose wrinkling as he shoves it to one side. ]
TWO;
[ The locket turns on and all that is given is one small line of text; hardly the most conpicuous of things, but Solas is making an effort, at least. ]
Tell me; what do you know of this place? What magic lies here?
THREE;
[ WILDCARD! Feel free to run into Solas outside, in a forest or on the lockets c: ]

Solas!

[ Cole is there suddenly in front of the chair where there had been no one before, his usually still face turned downwards. There are so many thoughts, hurts and lightness, it is noisy and strange. He cannot feel the Fade, or the Veil. Sharp, real, magic sits on his skin like rainwater, but it doesn't slide it sticks. ]

There is so much food, it smells. [ Blegh. Hello Solas, your spirit son is here. ]

[ The voice strikes him and he turns his head slowly, glancing down to let his eye rest on Cole. Seeing him here is so so strange, he thinks, but the knowledge of what he had done sits heavily on his shoulders. Lips pursing, Solas says nothing for a moment before he glances out over at the feast, shaking his head. ]

I do not think there is much we can do to stop that, Cole.

[ He smiles, though. ]

Perhaps we should take a walk?

[ Cole does not like food, he does not need it, the smells is strange and he does not understand why others eat it. He likes sleep, though he never truly sleeps, he likes resting his head on the chest and listening to the heart beating fast─ ba dum ba dum ba dum ba dum.

( drums, the sound of drums. they echo and bounce and grow louder and louder. they won't stop. ) ]

Yes. [ He nods, overly large hat swaying with the movement. ] Are the others here? There are so many songs- sounds, twisting spinning, sunlight on the hair. [ It is hard to see behind his mop of hair, but he frowns. ] I can't hear them.

[ Solas moves, urging Cole to walk forward without touching him, still careful and considerate of the boundaries that the spirit wishes to keep. He is unique, special, and for all that he finds him curious and wondersome Solas does care for him. More, perhaps, than he should. ]

I have yet to see anyone, but that may change. I don't think either of us have looked around.

[ Stepping forward, he motions for Cole to follow. ]

Come. Outside.

1! fine with spoilers

[personal profile] strollingplayer 2015-01-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Balthier's, in a word, drifting. People watching, to be more specific. He isn't really looking for anything in specific, just gauging reactions, watching the motley crew that's been assembled. All that talk about Shardbearers, plural - presumably, most of them came here the same way he did.

Well, hopefully not the same way. The sack made for a rather bumpy ride.
]

Not to your liking? [He sidles his way to the man's side, back to the wall the whole time - a few steps sideways and he's there, looking at Solas out of the corner of his eye.]

If it's any consolation, the wine's not much to speak of, either. [He raises his glass and drinks what's left in it anyway, frowning as it goes down.] Too sweet, and too heavy. Impressive.

[ His eyes flicker to the stranger as his nose wrinkles from the tea, his fingers brushing over his mouth as if that would rid him of the taste. Foul stuff, even here, and he shakes his head in answer. ]

No. I detest tea.

[ Not just for the taste, but for the pull that it gives him, drawing him away from his sleep and his desire to sink into the Fade. ]

It's as if they're trying to dilute our senses. Not an unusual form of trickery.

A club to the back of the head would do just as well.

[He indicates the wine glass again, smirking enough to let Solas in on the joke.]

They certainly didn't mind the blunt approach on the way in. I'm no stranger to rough landings, but the sack was a little much.

Unless your trip was more agreeable? [Did everyone get hogtied and put in a sack, or was he special?]
dirth: (Default)

[personal profile] dirth 2015-01-06 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
It would, but it would be a great deal more unsettling. I'm glad they went without the violent option.

[ His lips twitch as he puts his hands behind his back, almost absently. ]

I was asked to come, as though they wanted me to walk with them in dreams. How unusual that your invitation was far less welcoming.
erythristic: (thought.)

2, spoilers fine

[personal profile] erythristic 2015-01-05 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I know some, but it depends on what you're asking of. As for magic, little exists that magic cannot do here.

Not at present. My apologies.

[there's a pause before she sends a second message.]

Clearly you do, however, and it means something significant. Care to enlighten a curious soul?
dirth: (Default)

[personal profile] dirth 2015-01-05 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly.

[ It's his favourite thing. ]

The Fade is a place of spirits, where souls go once death has taken you. It is the place from which mages draw their magic and the home of uncountable wonders.

[ ... sigh. ]

Perhaps some of us like to be aware of what power this place has over us, Sera.

[ Because some of us are actually smart, ugh. ]

Knowing is the first step to understanding how to return to Thedas.

Weren't you listening?

They need our help. We kill the baddies, we go home. Something about shards and rocks or something. But. Whatever. It's simple! Stop trying to make it... unsimpled!
dirth: (i feel sun)

( solas greatly disapproves )

[personal profile] dirth 2015-01-05 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I was listening.

[ What little patience he has is slipping, fast. ]

That does not mean that their need for help somehow takes precedence over what we were doing with the Inquisition.

lefthands: (pic#8694269)

1! hope this is fine!!

[personal profile] lefthands 2015-01-06 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ This was unsettling, in every sense of the word. The sort of feeling that creeped right beneath your skin; and it wasn't because magic was involved. Much like anything, magic was a means. It was the how, the why. The what. Another war, and being given a side? Ridiculous, if they expected loyalty after something like that.

She is careful within the court; touches no food, rejects any drinks offered with carefully given words, questions sewn into the end. Bit by bit, she collects information. After all, a spymaster without her spies was just a spy herself, and it's a position she knows well.

Despite the amount of others gathered, she catches sight of him (his head is a beacon); rather, a sight of something familiar; perhaps the view of his pack, or dark outline of the jawbone looping his neck.
]

Not to your tastes? [ Leliana approaches, hands steepled lightly behind a straight back; an ease of posture that would allow for a quickly drawn bow. Her tone is light, bemused (why would he take anything they offered here at all?) ]
dirth: (Default)

yes!!

[personal profile] dirth 2015-01-07 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ Her approach is quiet and were he anyone else he thinks he would find the sudden appearance startling. Instead, he turns, his eyes flickering over Leliana before he offers her a soft smile. He is quite fond of the Inquisitor's advisor and he understands their importance, even if there are other things he believes they should focus on - the Inquisition, for him, for now, is a means to an end.

The wrinkle in his nose relaxes as he gives her a nod of his head, looking back at the tea. It's as though the imps had been intentionally attempting to frustrate him and he huffed, arms crossing over his chest. ]

Tea. I detest it. [ He turns to look at her properly. ] I had hoped it would be water, but it seems I was deceived. Welcome, Spymaster.
lefthands: (pic#8694268)

sorry for the small delay!!

[personal profile] lefthands 2015-01-09 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ She's well versed in means and ends and everything in between; she certainly doesn't doubt that there was more to his coming to offer his knowledge and help than simply good will or intent. But it was knowledge, and that was a currency she enjoyed dealing with (even if it was jut the slightest bit unnerving, how nondescript everything about him was; how little she could actually trace).

She hums, a quiet little melody beneath the near ambient sound of those around them.
] I would have been truly surprised if they did offer water at such a - celebration.

In fact, I'm rather surprised that was just tea. Our hosts seem adventurous, after all. [ There's a tint of annoyance, there, one she doesn't care to hide too much. There was too much unknown here still, and what she did know was unnerving at best. Only fools would see this merriment as that alone. ]
unvanish: (pic#8694712)

3??

[personal profile] unvanish 2015-01-07 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ Forests were most preferred, far more over the bustle of any court. Faeries, she has learned, were more tiresome than she had remembered, and she did not like how they tangled her mane. It was loud and grand but she did not wish to be caught or tricked by the merriment.

So she sought something more familiar in nature, even if lost was the only thing she was in this place. Magic hung in the air of the wood, she knew, but it was strange. New, different.

She did not mind solitude, but something subtle drew her closer to another presence. Some sort of old magic, or just the sort that wasn't her own; it felt peaceful, maybe. Ageless, understood by any immortal creature. Caution was still a lingering thing, pronounced in the feathered ease of her steps, approaching.

Considers watching from afar, but goes against it; if he truly was a magician, he would be able to see her for what she truly is. Perhaps he knew more about this place than she.
] Hello.
