[ Cole is there suddenly in front of the chair where there had been no one before, his usually still face turned downwards. There are so many thoughts, hurts and lightness, it is noisy and strange. He cannot feel the Fade, or the Veil. Sharp, real, magic sits on his skin like rainwater, but it doesn't slide it sticks. ]
There is so much food, it smells. [ Blegh. Hello Solas, your spirit son is here. ]
no subject
I do not think there is much we can do to stop that, Cole.
[ He smiles, though. ]
Perhaps we should take a walk?
no subject
( drums, the sound of drums. they echo and bounce and grow louder and louder. they won't stop. ) ]
Yes. [ He nods, overly large hat swaying with the movement. ] Are the others here? There are so many songs- sounds, twisting spinning, sunlight on the hair. [ It is hard to see behind his mop of hair, but he frowns. ] I can't hear them.
no subject
I have yet to see anyone, but that may change. I don't think either of us have looked around.
[ Stepping forward, he motions for Cole to follow. ]
Come. Outside.

1! fine with spoilers
Well, hopefully not the same way. The sack made for a rather bumpy ride.]
Not to your liking? [He sidles his way to the man's side, back to the wall the whole time - a few steps sideways and he's there, looking at Solas out of the corner of his eye.]
If it's any consolation, the wine's not much to speak of, either. [He raises his glass and drinks what's left in it anyway, frowning as it goes down.] Too sweet, and too heavy. Impressive.
no subject
No. I detest tea.
[ Not just for the taste, but for the pull that it gives him, drawing him away from his sleep and his desire to sink into the Fade. ]
It's as if they're trying to dilute our senses. Not an unusual form of trickery.
no subject
[He indicates the wine glass again, smirking enough to let Solas in on the joke.]
They certainly didn't mind the blunt approach on the way in. I'm no stranger to rough landings, but the sack was a little much.
Unless your trip was more agreeable? [Did everyone get hogtied and put in a sack, or was he special?]
no subject
[ His lips twitch as he puts his hands behind his back, almost absently. ]
I was asked to come, as though they wanted me to walk with them in dreams. How unusual that your invitation was far less welcoming.
2, spoilers fine

[there's a pause before she sends a second message.]
Clearly you do, however, and it means something significant. Care to enlighten a curious soul?
no subject
[ It's his favourite thing. ]
The Fade is a place of spirits, where souls go once death has taken you. It is the place from which mages draw their magic and the home of uncountable wonders.

TWO
Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrg
[Never mind. Now we're just talking at it.]
Ugh. Stupid. Why'd you have to go off and ask that? Now you've ruined it. If it works, it works. You're here, then you're here. You don't always need whys and whats all the time.
[ cassandra noises ]
Perhaps some of us like to be aware of what power this place has over us, Sera.
[ Because some of us are actually smart, ugh. ]
Knowing is the first step to understanding how to return to Thedas.
[ Pbbbbbt ]
Weren't you listening?
They need our help. We kill the baddies, we go home. Something about shards and rocks or something. But. Whatever. It's simple! Stop trying to make it... unsimpled!
( solas greatly disapproves )
[ What little patience he has is slipping, fast. ]
That does not mean that their need for help somehow takes precedence over what we were doing with the Inquisition.
[ -- and he assumes that she isn't from after the battle because, well. She's still speaking to him. ]
[ Yeah, well. Sera greatly APPROVES of his greatly Disapproves. So there. ]
it's an endless spiral 8(
Spiral needs lard, then it's faster.
sera, no.
yes.
no.
yes.
sera why.
your face that's why.
gosh so mature!!!
the lard didn't give that away?
trying to believe in you sera
don't give yourself a headache or something
OH AND 02
[ If their Fade expert is lost on all of this... ]
no subject
[ More and more of them are turning up, how interesting. ]
Sadly not. There also seems to be a lack of people with the capability to answer my questions.
no subject
I take it that you haven't been able to enter the Fade, have you?
[ Which just made the situation all the more unsettling. ]
no subject
No. It is as though there is no connection to it at all and, yet, I am still capable of accessing my magic.
1! hope this is fine!!
She is careful within the court; touches no food, rejects any drinks offered with carefully given words, questions sewn into the end. Bit by bit, she collects information. After all, a spymaster without her spies was just a spy herself, and it's a position she knows well.
Despite the amount of others gathered, she catches sight of him (
his head is a beacon); rather, a sight of something familiar; perhaps the view of his pack, or dark outline of the jawbone looping his neck. ]Not to your tastes? [ Leliana approaches, hands steepled lightly behind a straight back; an ease of posture that would allow for a quickly drawn bow. Her tone is light, bemused (why would he take anything they offered here at all?) ]
yes!!
The wrinkle in his nose relaxes as he gives her a nod of his head, looking back at the tea. It's as though the imps had been intentionally attempting to frustrate him and he huffed, arms crossing over his chest. ]
Tea. I detest it. [ He turns to look at her properly. ] I had hoped it would be water, but it seems I was deceived. Welcome, Spymaster.
sorry for the small delay!!
She hums, a quiet little melody beneath the near ambient sound of those around them. ] I would have been truly surprised if they did offer water at such a - celebration.
In fact, I'm rather surprised that was just tea. Our hosts seem adventurous, after all. [ There's a tint of annoyance, there, one she doesn't care to hide too much. There was too much unknown here still, and what she did know was unnerving at best. Only fools would see this merriment as that alone. ]
3??
So she sought something more familiar in nature, even if lost was the only thing she was in this place. Magic hung in the air of the wood, she knew, but it was strange. New, different.
She did not mind solitude, but something subtle drew her closer to another presence. Some sort of old magic, or just the sort that wasn't her own; it felt peaceful, maybe. Ageless, understood by any immortal creature. Caution was still a lingering thing, pronounced in the feathered ease of her steps, approaching.
Considers watching from afar, but goes against it; if he truly was a magician, he would be able to see her for what she truly is. Perhaps he knew more about this place than she. ] Hello.
