Re: charles xavier Ⓧ x-men: movieverse Ⓧ seelie
Uh, I don't know! I don't think I've met you before. I've only been around for a month or so, and I've had some stuff on my mind.
[He thinks about Haruto, still in his weird magical sleep in the wing upstairs. That whole thing has been in the forefront of his mind ever since it happened. The fairies keep telling him not to worry, so he tries to keep busy, but... Well, he can't help but think about it. If Charles tries to probe any further into his mind, though, he'll encounter some resistance...]

Right, right. You have one of those familiar faces I would suppose, though you're right in that I don't think I know you very well. [ he's friendly nonetheless, settling down across from the other man, grabbing a bit of bread from the basket in front of him. ] An entire month, you say? That seems like a good while, though I imagine with your mind being focused elsewhere the time's just - well, flown by.
[ he hears a name, and that's all he can really hear, all he can really glean from the other man's mind. certainly the other seems to be troubled about it. ] Is everything alright? You seem a bit distracted.

I guess I do stand out! I guess it has. There was a lot going on. Last month I ended up healing a bunch of messed up fairies, and then this weird magic cow transported me to the mountain town down the way. I stayed there for a bit before coming back... But now I know the area pretty well.
[He blinks, a little surprised that the guy saw through him so easily. He swallows, trying to look chill and burying his face in a cup of warm tea, but his heart is beating pretty fast now.]
Ah, uh, I mean... I came here with my...[friend] rival, Haruto, and he's kind of been in a magical sleep for a few weeks. They, uh... they said it's pretty normal, but it's always been bad news in the past. I guess I just can't shake it.
no subject
Are you a healer then? And you know this area well, hm?
[ he's unnerved the poor boy he feels, and he backs off just a slight bit, not wanting to give the impression that he may or may not be reading the man's mind. ]
What a shame. You said he's been asleep for a few weeks? Have you gone to visit him?

That's one of my only spells that can work on other people. I'm a wizard, Kousuke Nitoh, the wizard Beast. I get real irritated if I stay in one place too long, so I been wandering around sightseeing. It helps that I can fly and have a bike, though. There are maps in the library, so I've been kind of memorizing those.
[He swallows, running his fingers through his forelocks. Kousuke's emotions run close to the surface, and it's easy enough to glean that he has some deep feelings for Haruto that he'd probably like to keep quiet.]
Yeah, uh. I tend to come back in the evenings, um... I'm kinda worried he's gonna wake up and nobody's gonna be there. Back home, there were enough people that somebody could keep an eye on him the whole time when he was getting his mana back. Now, it's just me. So when I'm studying, I do it in his room instead of the library, just in case.
no subject
I'm sure your friend must be very important to you.
[ he's not trying to show how easy it is to read the other man, simply acknowledging his worry. ] That's terribly kind of you to do that, especially considering it's the two of you here together. The fact that you stay there with him is very admirable.
no subject
[He thinks of Yuzuru, and how much he's grown up since he was forced to become a wizard. He misses the kid more than he can say. At the statement, Nitoh flushes obviously, swallowing.]
We, uh... We been through a lot together. We... lost somebody. She was closest to him. She was the one who'd watch over him, y'know. I don't want him to have to think about it anymore.
[He thinks about Koyomi's death... About the monster who revived her and forced her to live out her rage. The pain didn't seem so sharp for Haruto since he had the chance to get closure with her, to heal her without fighting her.]
Um, so what do you think got 'em to drag you into this mess, huh Charles? Or should I call you Mr. Xavier...?
no subject
[ just an offering of information in return for the information he's got about the young man so far. he's not quite so far gone from his students that he's able to miss them yet, but he knows he will soon. at the next thing he says, his eyes soften, brows lifting. ]
I'm sorry to hear that. [ he drops a hand on the other man's shoulder, honestly feeling sympathetic. he's not gone through a lot of death in his life (certainly not yet), but he's still apologetic. ] It always hurts when you lose someone close to you, and I'm sure that you're suffering by watching your friend suffer.
[ he can at least feel the grief from the other man. sometimes it helps being able to understand it. ]
I couldn't honestly tell you. One day I was helping a young man learn how to fly using the soundwaves he was able to emit, the next day they dragged me here and wanted my help for something. I'm not much good in a war, I doubt I'll be able to do what they ask.
no subject
[He ducks his head, clearing his throat. When Charles puts his hand on his shoulder, he almost jumps. He's used to being the one to touch on people he only just met, it not being a big part of his culture back home. He calms down and gives an awkward smile.]
Yeah, uh. I mean, we really were lucky to have the time we got with her... Literally, you know. That doesn't mean it's not hard to lose her. I think he's doing better than right after it happened, but I'm not gonna forget how much it hurt him.
[He sighs, and then swallows, but then Charles is talking about himself more and he gives him a half-smile.]
What, really? Do you have powers too, then?
slides in here where i belong i mean a.
The feast is as lovely as it had been the last few times and she's about to go ahead and indulge herself when she feels someone tap her shoulder; turning, she just smiles. The accent is familiar, at least, and she feels a pleased little pang at the thought of someone from the same country as her being brought here -- there's Harry, of course, but that was different, Harry's on an entirely different plane of existence when it comes to fond feelings. She brightens, though, shaking her head and reaching out to offer a hand (no matter how long she's been here politeness isn't something that's likely to fade away). ]
No, I don't think. Hermione Granger. It's nice to meet you. [ A newcomer, then, which is exciting and sad all at once. Her mind is abuzz with the knowledge of her being the one to answer questions and as much as she loves that being her duty - just as it was at home - she does wish that people weren't dragged here. It's sad, sort-of, and she just wants to take care of people. ] Welcome to Caer Glaem.
no subject
she'd know more than most anyone else. he takes her hand, shakes it gently, and leans forward on his arms. ] Hermione Granger, [ he repeats, and it's awful nice to have some familiarity as well. he's spent plenty of years in Oxford, plenty of time developing his particular accent, and to have a familiar voice just seems to make him feel a bit more like home. or at least, like his dormitory back then. ] Caer Glaem, is that what they call it? I do recall hearing a bit about that just now.
[ she seems incredibly knowledgeable, just based on his first impression. he doesn't pry too deeply, doesn't wish to become obvious - just smiles and enjoys her pleasant company. ] So tell me, what's the best that Caer Glaem has to offer? Other than, obviously, the food. [ he gestures to the large amounts of food in front of him, finding a shame he's more hungry for knowledge than for anything else. it does absolutely smell divine. ]
no subject
That's this Court, yes. There's Caer Glaem, here, and Caer Scima, which is the side we're supposed to be fighting. Between us is the Station, which is where you'll find modern-world technology, and lots of inns and forests to take up the miles between that. I know it might sound a little much right now but, really, you do get used to it very fast. There's nothing to worry about whatsoever - we haven't even fought anyone yet.
[ She glances over at the food and shakes her head, focussing instead on answering his questions. This is what she thrives on, after all; giving out information, educating, helping, researching. It was practically her nature now, especially when she was around Harry and Ron. ] Personally? I love the library and the underground ruins. There are books from everywhere tucked away and that's where I spend most of my time. Otherwise the Station is really rather nice and the fields outside the court are lovely too.
no subject
I see. I'm sure it'll all come to me in time. It does seem a bit fanciful, doesn't it? I'm still pinching myself trying to figure out whether or not it's a dream. [ as if to show off, he does so right in front of her - grabs a bit of the skin of his arm, shrugs absently and continues to listen to her. but the idea of a library, oh, that sounds lovely. ]
Library? [ he raises a brow. ] I obviously will need to see this. Perhaps not now, I'd hate to ruin such a lovely dinner when they've obviously gone to great lengths to impress us, but I'd adore a tour from you perhaps if you've got the time? I honestly spent nearly seventy-five percent of my time at Oxford with my nose tucked in some book, ninety-nine if you asked my sister Raven. She abhorred it.
no subject
Until you get used to it things are a little strange - well, for the most part. I'm a witch so a lot of these things are commonplace for me, unlike for others. [ She has long since gotten used to freely admitting who and what she is in front of people, but she does fuss a little over her new friend and urges his hand away from his arm, no matter how casual he might be about it. Sometimes it's little pains that're the most frustrating and painful, after all. ] But, yes, you should definitely enjoy your dinner before we think about anything. An empty stomach does not help book learning.
[ Oh, oh, but then he keeps talking and how is Hermione Jean Granger supposed to stop herself from getting excited when there's someone who seems to enjoy reading and research and books as much as she does sitting right in front of her. She leans close, expression brightening, looking like someone's just given her an incredible birthday present, one she's been waiting for since she was just a little girl (in a way that's exactly what Charles was, which she was sure he'd come to regret). ] You studied at Oxford - the muggle university? What was it like? Harry and Ron - my best friends - always said that I spent too much time reading. It just so happens that most of my silly reading has saved their lives. How fortunate for them.
no subject
It's a bit strange, yes, but not overwhelmingly so. [ at the phrase she uses to call herself however, he gives her a stern look. ] A witch. [ he repeats. ] You seem like a lovely girl to me, Miss Granger, or should I call you Hermione? I hardly would think of you as such a thing. [ after all, she's batting at his arm and pulling it away from him, and is that something a witch would do? he hardly thinks that. ] I'm planning on eating, I promise. [ just to show her, he loads a plate up and starts picking at his food absently. ]
Yes! Oxford, yes, in fact, just graduated not too long ago with a professorship from there. It's a terribly lovely campus - spent years there, I can answer any particular questions you have if you'd like to ask? They had a simply amazing library, I doubt that any other I go to will ever really compare to it. [ but reading and writing and research, yes the two of them are doubtlessly going to be fabulous friends. the word muggle just seems to slip right past him ] You'd be surprised how much knowledge can help. Why do you think I became a professor? There's something so enriching about utilising things you've learned to help others.
b
Her surprise is entirely unfeigned, for once. ]
Charles!

the good thing for Raven is that he has absolutely no recollection of her ever leaving his side. no recollection of Cuba. nothing regarding killing the president, or Trask, or any of that trainwreck they've left behind. he was taken from a far earlier time than she was, his own face still clean-shaven, hair cut short. ]
Raven. My god, how did you get here?
[ he barely even knows how he got here, but asking her seems like a good enough question. he wraps an arm around her, stands to hug her close. ]
no subject
Still, for a moment, she lets herself hug him back. She can give herself that, that moment, to be Raven in this strange place before she pulls away and stares at his face.]
I was dragged here like the rest of us.
[She is deliberately ambiguous about what dragged her here.
And it is in staring at his face that she notices, not only the clean-shaven, short hair, but just how young he looks.]
What about you? What happened to you here?
no subject
Dragged here, just like myself. [ he sympathizes, and shakes his head. ] As much as I am sorry to hear that you endured the same fate, it is good to see you. It feels like it's been ages.
[ he itches to show her the wifi. it's fascinating stuff, really. ]
Not a lot has happened yet, really. Just pulled here, told the "purpose" of why I'm here -- I can't say I really agree with it, I've been more inclined to be in the library for most of my time. Are you alright? Safe? [ she's always had a young face, he doesn't notice she looks any different at all. then again, she can change her looks however she might wish, so that would be hard to put a finger on, now wouldn't it? ]
no subject
Safe? She'd show him safe.
Her skin ripples, the metamorphosis smooth and nearly effortless, and she stands before him entirely herself. ]
In some ways, this is a very safe place. I'll agree with you about one thing - I'm not interested in taking on anyone's purpose but my own.
no subject
Raven, I don't think --
[ it's not that sort of safe place. no one he's met has recognized mutation, as fanciful and "magical" a place as this might be. ] I understand your point, I do, but now is not the time or place. [ he stands, settling a hand on her arm, nearly wanting to clothe her in his suit jacket. ]
You need clothing, at the very least.
